Grading day highlights 📸🔥

A pyramid format that tested everything:
hand strikes, kicks, break falls, takedowns, forms and weapons.

Each level added another rep, building fatigue and testing memory, all the way up to level 9.
From the fundamentals to advanced forms under serious fatigue, this is what progression looks like.

Proud of every student who stepped on the mats and put the work in. 👊

Huge well done to everyone who graded today. Outstanding effort all round.

We ran a pyramid format, each level including
hand strike
kick
breakfall
technique with takedown
form

Each level added another rep, all the way up to 9 levels, with PSBN Ruaridh finishing on 9x Sam Bang Cho Hyung.

And that was after an hour of intense weapons.

Physical, technical, mental. Exactly how a grading should be. 👊🔥

Strength doesn’t have a gender.
Skill doesn’t either.
Just people showing up and training hard.
Martial arts are no exception to that.

What a weekend at the UK Tournament.

Our small Glasgow team absolutely smashed it. Every single student brought home a medal, averaging 11 points per student! Special shout to DBN Sally for her first ever gold medal, in sparring as well! She has worked incredibly hard for this, as have all of our DBNs who tested and competitors!

As a group of only seven competitors we scored 77 points and placed 9th overall! I knew we had a strong team but you all still had to perform on the day and every one of you stepped up and knocked it out the park!

Sunday’s workshop was brilliant as well, and it was great to have the chance to train and practice with friends from all over.

Huge thank you to everyone who trained hard, supported each other and represented our school and K*k Sool as a whole with pride.

Also, thanks everyone who helped organise and set up! Everything was taken care of exceptionally smoothly, it’s amazing what a small team of keen volunteers can do!

Also I want to say a special thank you to PKJN Karl and Graeme (the last slide with me). You’re both so generous with your knowledge and keep me inspired and motivated to continue training smart!

Last chance to practice tonight for everyone heading to Liverpool on Friday! Make sure you take home everything you need after class:
• Uniform & belt
• General’s uniform (Black Belts)
• All weapons for your division
• Sparring gear
• Water & snacks

See you tonight! Let’s finish strong before tournament weekend! (Also don’t throw it away at the end on the actual day… that’s what practice is for)

Had the sudden urge to practice some jump kicks…

Well done to all our students who took part in class testing at the weekend! This one was particularly tough, our colour belts managed to perform 500 kicks and our Dahn Bo Nims (plus Pu Sa Bum Ruaridh) did 1000, all on top of their full regular syllabus!

Every single one of you rose to the challenge and even seemed to enjoy grinding out all those kicks… maybe we’ll do it more often!!!

Well done everyone!

A brilliant weekend for K*k Sool Won Glasgow at the WKSA Dutch Tournament in the Netherlands.

Five of us travelled, with three of us taking part in the competition. All three of us who competed achieved our best ever tournament result at our current rank!

DBN Sally: a medal in every division - three silver and one bronze. Sally has been training hard and upping her level over the past while, we’re delighted to see her get rewarded for all her effort!

PSBN Sarah: first medals at 3rd Dahn - two silver and one copper. I’m especially impressed with her silver for board breaking, smashing it literally!

SBN Andrew: 2 golds and one silver & 4th Dahn age 33+ Grand Champion (having also won the last Dutch tournament in 2013… technically undefeated in the Netherlands for 12 years 😜)

What really made the weekend so memorable though was getting to catch up with and compete with so many of our European K*k Sool family, with hundreds of people travelling to take part. Also getting to spend time with some of them outside of the tournament exploring Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The great people you meet in K*k Sool is what makes it so special to me!

Looking forward to the next tournament already!
