Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship - News Update🏆

Stirling’s Erin Huskie, whose brilliant play has lit up Southerness all week, has this afternoon been crowned Scottish Women’s Amateur Champion.

Regrettably, Pollok’s Rosie Maguire was unable to contest the eagerly anticipated final because of a neck injury.

Everyone at Scottish Golf wishes Rosie a swift recovery, congratulates her on her play this week and for the gracious manner in which she handled a very difficult situation when it became apparent she was unable to continue.

Erin, a member of the Scotland girls’ squad, played superb golf all week and showed true champion qualities over the three days of competition.

The 18-year-old qualified from the stroke play as the second seed and posted the joint lowest score of the week (68,-3) in her second round.

Erin’s three wins in the match play stages all came on extra holes - victories over Carly McDonald and Jade Potter achieved on the 19th hole before she beat Abercrombie Nisbet in the semis thanks to stunning birdie on the 21st hole.

More reaction from our champion to follow……..

Scottish Women’s Amateur - Day 3🏆⛳️

We have our finalists - eventually! 🥳

It’s Rosie Maguire from Pollok and Stirling’s Erin Huskie in the winner takes all Championship showdown here at sun-kissed Southerness.

Both semis were incredibly close

Rosie rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt against Ellie Docherty on 16 to go two up and give her the cushion she needed to close out the game with a par on 17.

Erin and Abercrombie Nisbet meanwhile, both birdied 18 to remain all square after a nip and tuck match and force extra holes.

Finally, after halving the 1st and 2nd, Erin nailed a 15-foot birdie putt on the 3rd to take the win!

Semi results

⛳️ Erin Huskie wins on 21st hole v Abercrombie Nisbet

Meanwhile, the Clark Rosebowl Final sees Louisa Hamilton, conqueror of Alison Davidson, face Megan Docherty who ended the hopes of Evie McCallum
