Becoming a trustee for Butterfly Effect Wellbeing is a powerful way to make a real, lasting difference—both in people’s lives and in your own sense of purpose.
1. Create Real, Life‑Changing Impact
As a trustee, you directly support a charity that helps people experiencing mental ill health and suicidal ideation.
You’re contributing to a service that literally saves lives
Your decisions help shape support for vulnerable individuals in crisis
You become part of a mission that brings hope, connection, and recovery
2. Be Part of a Compassionate, Purpose‑Driven Community
Butterfly Effect Wellbeing is built on non‑judgemental peer support.
You’ll work alongside people who genuinely care
You’ll help champion inclusion, understanding, and kindness
You become part of something authentic and grassroots, not just a traditional board
3. Use Your Skills for Meaningful Change
Trustees bring experience from many backgrounds—lived experience, business, healthcare, finance, etc.
You can apply your skills in a way that truly matters
Help guide strategy, governance, and growth
Influence how services evolve to meet real community needs
4. Support Growth and Expansion
Butterfly Effect Wellbeing is expanding its reach and services. Trustees play a key role in:
Increasing capacity to support more people
Strengthening partnerships with health services
Helping secure funding and sustainability
Shaping the future direction of the charity
5. Give a Voice to Those Who Need It Most
Many people supported by the charity feel unheard elsewhere.
Trustees advocate for individuals struggling with mental health
Help ensure services remain accessible, inclusive, and responsive
Make sure lived experience stays at the heart of decisions
6. Personal Growth and Fulfilment
Being a trustee is not only about giving—it also gives back:
Develop leadership and governance experience
Learn new skills in charity management and decision‑making
Gain a deep sense of purpose, pride, and achievement
7. Be Part of Something That Truly Matters
Butterfly Effect Wellbeing isn’t just a service—it’s a lifeline.
Becoming a trustee means:
Standing up for mental health support in your community
Helping people feel safe, seen, and supported
Contributing to a ripple effect of positive change
Being a trustee for Butterfly Effect Wellbeing means using your voice, skills, and compassion to help save lives, strengthen a vital service, and build a more supportive community 💜🦋

💙 Volunteers’ Week 2026 💙
This week we are highlighting and celebrating our incredible volunteers.
You are the heart of everything we do.
Day in and day out, you show compassion, kindness, and understanding to those who need it most. You sit with people in their darkest moments, offer hope when it feels lost, and help create a safe, non-judgemental space where lives can begin to change.
Because of you, people feel seen.
Because of you, people feel heard.
Because of you, people keep going.
What you give cannot be measured in hours — it’s measured in lives touched, hope restored, and futures changed.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for standing with us and for believing in the power of support, connection, and community.
We simply could not do this without you. 💙

Emergency Service Update
From 14 May 2026, people across north east London will be able to text 07860 009642 to reach NHS 111’s mental health crisis support service.
ELFT, along with neighbouring north east London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT), have worked together to ensure that service users have alternative ways to receive mental health crisis support, not just by phone.
Service users will be able to text 07860 009642 for urgent mental health support.
A member of the NHS 111, Option 2 team will respond as soon as they can. They will provide psychological support and signpost to services that can offer mental health support.
This service is available for anyone who would rather text than call. For many people, words may be too difficult to say out loud, or they may not want to be overheard making a confidential phone call.
