Round 2 of the Bemsee championship at the spectacular Oulton Park did not disappoint!
Again Haydon was taking part in both the 2T engineering Open 500 class and Yamaha Past masters, this time onboard Paul Whitbys TZR that he kindly lent Haydon after putting himself out of action at round one. Get well soon mate!
Despite taking a few steps forward with the KR1S Thursday it was evident that Haydon would go better onboard Paul’s bike even though he had never ridden it before. Credit to Paul and Andy Ball for building this machine, it really is a great bike.
It was a clean sweep of wins for Haydon in the 2t open 500 class extending his championship lead heading into round 3🥇🥇🥇🥇
In the YPM class it was a weekend of fantastic racing. With it only being Haydons second time at Oulton park he was really chuffed to get in the mix with the lads at the front. A big shout out to class legend and all round top guy Kev Wholey who spent a lot of time throughout the weekend sharing his expertise with Haydon.
P2🥈P2🥈DNF and P4 were Haydon’s finishing positions. Some fantastic battles with David Ball, Mark Haigh, Richie Welsh and Kev Wholey over the 4 races.
In a damp race 2 Haydon repaid Kev for all the help by making life difficult for him up until the last corner of the last lap🤣Kev’s race craft and experience demoted Haydon from the lead to a very respectable P2 just 0.184 back.
Unfortunately Race 3 saw Haydon slide out of a comfortable p2 at cascades. Slightly off line and a gust of wind put an early end to his race. Luckily the damage to the bike was minimal, a bit of duct tape and some straightening got Paul’s TZR back out to finish the remaining races of the weekend.
Returning to Oulton Park after 26 years Nick initially struggled getting to grips with the combination of an unfamiliar track and machine. As the weekend went on he gained confidence, relaxed and started to enjoy the CBR. P9 P7 P7 and p5, respectable results on a strong Thunderbike sport grid.
Special mentions for this round go out to Paul Whitby for the use of his fantastic TZR😁to Andy ball of 2t engineering and Tom Bedford for their help over the weekend.👊
As always thank you to our sponsors and friends who’s support allow us to continue competing in the sport we love so much.

If you can get over Haydon Smith inability to change gear under pressure this is a quality race. Battling it out with the YPM lads at Brands onboard Dougies TZR250 🧡

BMCRC YPM round 7, Brands Hatch, Race 4 2025. Onboard Doug Edmundsons TZR250 ridden by Haydon Smith
Not the smoothest of rides, pushing hard for his first weekend on the bike which resulted in a p3. Plenty of missed gears, slides, and exhaust scraping! Some...

Bit of a different weekend for round 8 with Bemsee at Brands Hatch but an awesome one none the less. Here's Haydons race report💨
Dad missed this round out as he was taking part in the Ipswich half Marathon which he successfully completed (good effort for an old boy🥳)
That wasn't it for the weekend though thanks to Doug Edmondson who very kindly leant and looked after his TZR for me to use in the Yamaha Past Masters Racing Club class.
I got out in practice Friday morning and instantly loved the bike! After a few suspension changes and getting used to the weight difference of a small 2 stroke I felt comfortable and ready for qualifying Saturday morning.💪
In qualifying I got out first with the hope of the quick lads coming past to give me a tow. Unfortunately I was too eager and no one passed me in the 7 laps I managed to complete before a small mechanical issue cut my session short. Despite this I qualified 9th on the grid.🙂
After a good start in race one I managed to make my way through the pack and after some great racing with Paul Whitby and Alan Cooper I bought it home P7 overall and P2🥈in the Clubman category.
For race 2 I got another decent start, this time from P6 on the grid, making my way up to p4. I was sitting watching the front boys and again learning from those around me. Unfortunately 2 laps in a fuel starvation issue resulted in a DNF.
Doug managed to sort the issue Saturday afternoon so after a great evening and BBQ with the YPM guys we were ready to roll out again Sunday morning😄
From 12th on the grid I got away well once again, I was P6 going into paddock hill and P5 by the way out of druids. Again an amazing battle with Paul Whitby in which I just came out on top. P5 overall and P2🥈 in the clubman class. I also put in my best lap of the weekend, a 52.975. 👌
With only 0.429 separating the top 6 lap times I lined up 6th on the grid just behind Kevin Wholey who very kindly gave me tips and advice throughout the weekend (thanks mate👊). After what was a fantastic race I managed to get my best result of the weekend. Constantly swapping places with Peter Branton and Paul Whitby. On the penultimate lap of the race Mark Haigh made a mistake causing him to run on at surtees. He then made contact with Paul going into druids which allowed me to pass Paull, I was then hot on the tail of Mark and managed to pull off a last lap, last corner lunge going into clearways. This put me P3🥉overall and 1st🥇 in the Clubman class which I was very pleased with.🥳
Thankyou to the YPM guys for allowing us in and making us feel so welcome. A genuinely lovely bunch of people who clearly have great passion for the club and helping others. (Experienced racer or first timer get yourself on the YPM club bike!) 💨
Thanks again to Doug, the bike was such a joy to ride!👊

The boys are exited to be at Snetterton tomorrow with Orwell Motorcycles Ltd for their exclusive trackday!
We'll be taking a variety of bikes to play around on and more than happy to give pointers and advice for those who are new to track riding.
If you're there make sure to come and say hello👋 😄

Slight change of plan for this weekend.
Unfortunately the 750s both have issues that are unresolvable to get out racing this weekend😢
We're all absolutely gutted but it isn't our weekend over.👊
Nick will still be out in TBS on the CBR600RR and Haydon didn't want to spend his weekend watching from trackside so decided to give the Bemsee hire bike a go in the Team Green Senior Ninja class.

Been proper slacking with the socials recently! We're heading to Snetterton this weekend with Bemsee.
Haydon and Nick will both be out on a 750 in the Ultra class! (A first for Nick).
With many hours in the workshop and help from so many awesome people we believe we've taken big steps forward with the set up of Pinky and Perky. We're hopeful this weekend will push on the development of the 750s and that the boys will be able to give the more modern 1000cc machines some hassle.😝
Nick will also be out in Thunderbike sport. With some drastic set up changes and a new colour scheme💅for the cbr600rr Nicks looking to be fighting near the front👊
Hope to see you there🤟💚❤️
