Fancy a bit of Friday night table tennis?🏓

We’re giving our first ever Table Tennis Tournament a go at Martlesham Leisure! 🙌 This is all about having a great laugh and meeting fellow members ••• It is a fun, social competition —not a cut-throat one! 🤣 And as this is our first attempt at running a table tennis tournament, bear with us if there are a few hiccups along the way… we’ll pretend they’re all part of the format. 😂🏓

We’ve only got 16 playing spaces, and they’ll be secured on a first come, first served basis, so if you fancy getting involved, don't hang around. Email [email protected] to grab your spot 📧

Tomorrow, Wednesday 12th August, we’re getting a pretty impressive partial solar eclipse - The biggest/ deepest eclipse since 1999!! 😎

Here in the Ipswich/Suffolk area, it's supposed to look something like this:

🌒 Starts: around 6:16pm
🌑 Maximum eclipse: around 7:12pm
🌘 Ends: around 8:05pm

At its peak, the Moon will cover a huge amount of the Sun, approximately 90%, so fingers crossed for clear skies! 🤞☀️

⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT BIT!

👀 Don’t look directly at the Sun with your naked eyes — even when most of it is covered. You’ll need proper ISO certified eclipse glasses. Normal sunglasses definitely don’t cut it! 🕶️❌

📱Tech Warning: Never point your phone camera, binoculars, or telescopes straight at it without proper solar filters or you'll fry the sensors (and your retinas!).

So get your eclipse glasses ready, find yourself a good spot and keep your fingers crossed that the weather behaves and the clouds stay away! ☁️➡️☀️

We’ve just put out a brand new table tennis table in the function room - demonstrated wonderfully by Lauren & Tina 🤣 - for all our members to use! Whether you want to play a few quick rallies, challenge your friends and family, or just have a laugh, it is officially open for game time.

Some bits you need to know before you serve:

🏓 𝖦𝗋𝖺𝖻 𝖺 𝖻𝖺𝗍 & 𝗉𝗅𝖺𝗒: Bats and balls are available from reception and must be returned after your game.
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 𝖥𝗎𝗇 𝖿𝗈𝗋 𝖺𝗅𝗅 𝖺𝗀𝖾𝗌: Everyone is welcome to play - it's perfect for a friendly match with anyone!
👁️ 𝖲a𝖿𝖾𝗍𝗒 𝖿𝗂𝗋𝗌𝗍: Please remember that children must be supervised at all times. We've popped out some tables so grab a drink and watch the action unfold.

🚴🏁 TOUR DE SPIN FINAL... WHAT.A.NIGHT! 🏁🚴

Who needs the Champs-Élysées when you've got the Martlesham Leisure Spin Studio?! 🤷‍♂️😂

Last night our Tour De Spin finalists took on the 10km showdown, and it's fair to say they didn't come to mess about! Every single rider smashed their heat PB... proving that a buzzing crowd of people shouting at you and a little healthy competition really does bring out your very best💪🏻🔥

The atmosphere was electric! ⚡ The cheering, the clapping, the pom poms, the tactical advice from the sidelines... it all made for a fantastic vibe - thank you so much to those who turned up to support our riders!🙌🏻

A massive well done to everyone who took part throughout the heats and to those who made it through to the final, thank you for getting involved.

And of course, a huge CONGRATULATIONS to our Male and Female Champions JAKE & JENNY 🏆🥇You guys were absolute machines and your names are now etched into Tour De Spin glory history! 👑😂
