Cannock and District Car Club are holding the "Get it Sideways" Streetcar Autosolo" -an Autosolo event from around 9.45am.
Spectator admission and parking is free, and the Sprinters Rest Cafe will be open for refreshments.

Auto SOLO events at Curborough are generally run over two or three courses marked out using cones. Each course will be completed several times.
They are a test of precision diving and car control, with slalom sections and longer turns. The aim is to complete the course in the correct direction, as quickly and accurately as possible. Hitting cones incurs a time penalty, and driving in the wrong direction results in a ‘fail’.Here is a link that shows what happens at a typical AutoSOLO event.

Championship Report- Round 11 Final

The annual September SDCC event was well attended for the final Championship round, and the summer held on for us.

The Sa Junior class had a good entry and saw Will Horton take the win in the Smart Roadster, with Jessica Harris second in the Suzuki Swift, and Ethan West third in the Matiz.

Class Sa followed with Jack Twomey taking the win to tighten his grip on a Championship over all third place finish. Second in class was John Denman in the ZR with Nathan Clarke returning in his Civic to take third.

Class Sb saw a win for Jenson Butlin in the “family” C2VTS meaning he claimed the championship class by one point from Dad Glyn. Both were under the old class record time!

Steve Barrow took his Fiesta Eco Boost to the class win in 1a with our Championship Octogenarian Martin Domleo second in his similar car. Julian Fishwick was third in the “old skool” Mini 1380.

In 1B upto 2.0l Class Mike Gardiner returned in the repaired Clio after his “off” at the SDCC July figure of Eight event to take the win, and claim the overall Championship win, breaking the class record by 0.002sec! Matt Dooner was second in the MX5.

Liam Meredith grabbed the win in 1C in his Z4 from a very close Ivor Williams in second in the Yaris GR4. The demise of Lee Bradford’s Cayman on his first timed run saw him waiting other results to see if he stayed in the top 3 over all! Dave Atkinson’s Cayman took 3rd from the other Cayman of Ian Poole.

The over 1.7 Kit car class went to Justin Rancins Westfield SEI from the Caterham of John Caldicott. The upto 2.0L 3b mod prods had a win and new class record for the Scirocco of Ian Carvell from second placed Adrian Crawley in the 205gti. Third place was enough for Dan Whitman in the Nova to take the championship class win.

The over 2.0L Mod Prods, 3C, had a win for Michael Jackson in the Porsche 911, Second and third respectively were Charlotte Ward and Andrew Ward in the family MX5 turbo. The second place was enough for Charlotte to claim the championship class win and the Ladies Award.

Championship Sponsor Mike White took FTD with his Empire in 7b.

Well, another year has flown by, but we hope to see many of you at the Annual Awards Dinner in March 2027, and also hopefully returning to have another go at the 29th Championship running next year!

It's a wet track walk this morning for the final rounds of the Curborough Championship sponsored by Optimal Graphics and Paul Green Jewelers. It's the fast and furious single lap today with a paddock full of cars. The sun is trying its best to break through. Entry is free for spectators and the Sprinters Rest Cafe is open all day for refreshments.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 10

The August BMMC 2 lap event attracted a good entry, even with a few late cancellations,having combined with the Caterham 7 championship, and we got better than the forecast weather for the Bank Holiday Sunday.
The event kicked off with Class Sa and a gaggle of MGZR’s with a win for Jack Twomey, from Richard Banks, with John Denman in third and Julie Kemp in fourth.
Sb had the usual close family Citroen 2VTS dice with the win just going to Son Jenson from Dad Glyn, which leaves them tied on 125 points going to the final round!
The 2.0L standard car class had a win for Paul Glendenning in the Clio Sport, moving him into the top 3 overall.
The small capacity Road car class, 1A, saw Graham Harvey winning the 1380cc Mini dice from Julian Fishwick.
Class 1B went to the MX5 of Matt Dooner.
The larger capacity Road car class, 1c, had a lower than usual entry with the win going to the Porsche Cayman of Lee Bradford, from the Yaris GR of Ivor Williams and the Audi TT of Neil McHugh third. The win moved Lee into the top spot for the moment!
Justin Rancins won the 2 car kit car class 2B in the Westfield, from Roy Woodfield’s GBS Zero, and also moved himself into the top three.
The small capacity Mod Prods went to the Mini of Karl Dickinson after an off sidelined Warwick Barber’s similar machine. Tim Lynham took second in his Lenham Midget.
The usual well supported 3C mod prod class went to the Porsche of Michael Jackson, with a PB time. Second and third respectively in the family MX5 turbo were Charlotte and Andrew Ward. Fourth was Steve Jackson and fifth Stuart Hadley in the supercharged MX5.
With just the SDCC final single lap event to go, there are still some class positions not decided, and the overall top 3 could easily change with a couple of the competitors still to complete their 7 th event!
The Championship Finale ( where did the year go?), is the usual SDCC Single lap event on Sunday 6th September, so hope to see most of you there, and hopefully the summer weather will hang around to see the season out!

Practice commences around 9.15am with competitive runs to follow.
