2026 has been an exciting year for Sturton Judo Community!

Sturton Judo Club has continued its growth, expanding its number of sessions, and reaching new member milestones!

Gringley Judo club opened in February, and has gone from strength to strength, building its membership to become an established club in the area!

The Peaks Judo club has just concluded its first month, and their numbers are growing week by week, the only way is up!

Harby Judo club will join the ranks as SJC’s 4th club, helping us continue to achieve our goal of sustainably bringing the benefits of Judo to as many as possible.

We’re excited to welcome juniors aged 5–15 years to our first session on Wednesday 21st October, 5–6pm!

Judo is a great way to get active, build confidence, learn new skills and make friends. Complete beginners are welcome! 🙌

Sunday saw our SJC members return to the mat for the Judo Spirit Academy development event!

After a long and exciting day of competition, we came away with the following results:

Our members showed real grit and determination out there, and everyone should be massively proud of their performances.

A special shout-out to Kyson, who took part in the U8s event on Saturday and showcased some fantastic judo!

A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support the team, ensuring our players could feel the full backing of the SJC community all day long.

Last night several of our Judo Tots Class (3-4 year olds) earned their first belt in judo. Lots of smiles all round!

One very proud coach seeing how much they’ve come on and how they’re improving every week - loving their first steps in their Judo journey 🙂👏🏻

Even after decades on the mat, a legend like Neil Adams still delivers incredible, unexpected insights! 🤯 Watching him break down unique details and custom workarounds during our groundwork session at York RI last weekend proved just how much advanced technical depth he brings to every technique. Unmatched coaching from one of the best to ever do it. 🥋🔥

🥋 NEW JUDO CLUB COMING TO NETHERTON! 🥋

We are proud to announce the launch of The Peaks Judo Club, officially opening on Tuesday, 8th September 2026.

Whether you are looking for a new sport for your child or a fitness challenge for yourself, our mats are open to all experience levels.

🔴 First Session is Completely FREE!

📅 Schedule: Every Tuesday
👦 Kids Classes (Ages 5–15): 18:00 – 19:00
🧔 Adult Classes (Ages 16+): 19:00 – 20:30
📍 Location: Netherton Village Hall, WF4 4LT

Why Judo? UNESCO recognises Judo as the most highly recommended starting sport for children and young people aged 4–21. It is praised for developing holistic physical, mental, and social skills without encouraging aggression, whilst teaching emotional control and respect.

Some of the team have had the privilege to spend another day training with Neil Adams Mbe Neil Adams Judo in his dojo. It was another awesome day filled with some excellent technical points to bring back to the club. Niki Adams was an amazing hostess as ever and everyone loved lunch - so tasty. Thanks for making us so welcome - we will see you again very soon 🙏🙌

Fantastic day for Sturton Judo Community!
