A fantactic course, with lots of new inspirational ideas to use in class. Thanks to the FLTN for organising it.

With schools, universities and colleges opening their doors to welcome the new term, it’s not surprising that September has a feeling of fresh starts about it.

Providing an opportunity to catch up with friends and keep up to date with all things FLexercise, CPD courses provide our teachers with a host of fresh ideas, insight and inspiration to use in their classes.

The Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club, near Birmingham, proved to be a delightful venue for last weekend’s FLexercise CPD course, organised by the FLTN. Our teachers returned home happy (maybe a little achy) and ready to set about their class planning. Exciting times ahead!

FLexercise has been delivering effective exercise to music classes for over 95 years - naturally our heritage is something we are justifiably proud of - we’d love to welcome more teachers to our team!

If you sign up to FLexercise’s apprenticeship scheme, you will learn how to blend safe, effective exercise and movement, using a variety of music. It’s a flexible way to train as a teacher, allowing you to go at your own pace, with support and mentoring provided throughout.

The key to good posture is correct body alignment, something that FLexercise teachers pay particular attention to when planning their classes.

By making a conscious effort to sit, stand, and move with good posture, you support your overall well-being, making everyday tasks easier and helping you feel and look better.

All of us in FLexercise are saddened to hear of the death of Iain Douglas Hamilton. His mother Prunella Stack, our late President, was so proud of him and loved to talk about his work and family. We send love and sympathy to his wife Oria and his family, especially to Saba who succeeded her grandmother as President of FLexercise. Her wonderful video message played at our recent 95th Anniversary Celebrations brought her closer to us. Iain was a remarkable man from a remarkable family.

Warmest congratulations to FLexercise Vice President, Margaret Peggie, seen here receiving a special long service award from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, in his capacity as President of the Sport and Recreation Alliance (S+RA).

It was a special occasion for S+RA, combining the organisation’s Annual General Meeting and their 90th Anniversary celebrations at St James’s Palace.

FLexercise are proud to be long-standing members of S+RA, and we are exceptionally proud of Margaret!

We're always delighted to see the success of EMD UK's delivery partners and FLexercise has hit a particularly exciting milestone - 95 years in business! That’s some staying power!

FLexercise started out as the Women’s League of Health and Beauty in 1930, the brain child of Mary Bagot Stack. Her system of exercise, with good posture as a core component, quickly captured the imagination of the nation. Sadly Mary died in 1935 and didn’t get to see her work evolve, but her daughter, Prunella, took the reins and continued with Mary’s dream - bringing the joy of movement and exercise to 1000s of women in person and online.

Naturally FLexercise are very proud to still be here, 95 years later, holding their own in an industry that has changed immeasurably. Long may it continue. Find out more about their journey here:

FLexercise Classes are fantastic for helping to strengthen bones in an enjoyable and fun way.

The theme for World Osteoporosis Day 2025 is ‘It’s Unacceptable!’. The knowledge and tools exist to prevent fragility fractures caused by osteoporosis, yet many people go undiagnosed and untreated.

Healthy bones are integral to our overall well-being and independence.

Weight-bearing exercise makes you work against gravity, ‘loading’ and strengthening the bones. Research suggests that exercise can actually increase bone density - definitely a top reason to keep active with FLexercise!
