These two pictures were taken 10 years apart.
They show I’m still
here. Still doing it.
Doing when I feel like it. Doing it when I don’t.
Still reaping the rewards either way.
I recently went to the doctor for a health check.
Cholesterol good ✅
Blood glucose good ✅
BMI good ✅
Blood pressure good ✅
Risk of a stroke or heart attack in the next 10 years. Apparently a score of 10 is good. Mine was 5 👏
All of a sudden I’m at an age when I need to worry about these things .
Strength training helps me worry less.

Happy International Cat Day, Igor.
You have brought joy to our lives where there was pain, trauma and sadness.
You are the best boy that ever lived in the whole of the world (the reboot - Nigel was the OG).
I love you more than I can put into words. Please live a long long life 🙏💜🫶

Want to hear the best reason ever to be a woman who strength trains?
Watch this! 🏎️
I’m 59 in three weeks and all I can say is, thank god for the gym.
Thank god for weight training.
If you’re an older woman that lifts weights I know you’ll get this.
When we have a barbell or a dumbbell in our hands we feel invincible.
We focus only on all that is good about our older bodies.
And we know we are doing everything to prevent our decline.
The biggest problem we have in this country is not enough older women are doing it.
If you’re one of them, do something about it today!
The only thing you’ll regret is not starting sooner!
Ladies, I know there are some days when we just can’t make it to the gym.
Work, family life and emotional labour just piles up and we feel swamped.
Never fear! Just blow the dust off that lockdown kettlebell.
Here’s a little training session you can do at home to keep you ticking over until you can get back to your big girl weights at the gym.
Tailor the rep range according to how heavy your kettlebell is.
If it’s heavy, go for lower reps snd if it’s light, do more.
As a guide you should feel like the last two reps are genuinely hard.
You can also slow the movements down if you need to make it harder or add a pause, like at the bottom of a squat, row or floor press for example.
If nothing else, it will help you get moving after a long day at your desk and give you a little something for yourself.
You are entitled to that! If you are looking for a women only gym with heavier dumbbells or kettlebells, ours go all the way to 20kg and 36kg respectively. 💪
After a super busy week, early mornings, long days the last thing I feel like doing is training.
If you’re nodding your head to this, here’s what I recommend.
Just pick up a dumbbell, barbell, or kettlebell and start.
Pick some basic movements; work on technique and speed. It doesn’t really matter how you start, it’s getting started that counts.
More often than not, when I do this, I get 10 minutes into the session and find my groove.
Sometimes my best training sessions come from starting like this.
Of course, what’s even better when you feel like this is having somewhere to turn up to and someone to coach you.
Then you don’t have to think about it at all.
You’ve done the hardest part by just showing up.
Get in touch if you need somewhere to go and someone to help.

Lifting weights is the best thing you can do for your body.
I’ve lost count of the number of women who tell me they regret not starting this when they were younger.
Maybe this is you. You want to start but you’re worried about looking stupid, not keeping up, maybe even finding it boring if you’ve been used to doing other things.
I can promise none of those things will happen.
But there’s only one way to be sure.
Come and try it for yourself.
But only if you want to be stronger, build muscle and change your body shape!
There’s nothing wrong with you! Press ups are hard. The only way to make them easier is to practice.
And it’s important to practice them in a way which will allow you to progress.
This method of elevating your upper body using the rack and bar will do that.
