We moved last year as all we saw was bricks at the front and bricks at the back of our house.

We have the best view now. The gorgeous woods and all the amazing wildlife that lives there.

Even on a not sunny day it is awesome. But is elite when the sun is out!

The birdsong is so healing.

Absolutely!

Moving your body in a number of ways, allowing the body to work as a complete organic anti-fragile system wirh progressive loads will yield great results.

Improve your life and all the things you love to do by creating resilience, strength and endurance throughout the whole body.

💪 Crunches won’t save you

The fitness industry has sold us a lot of nonsense about core strength. Endless sit-ups. Planks until you shake. “Engage your core!” shouted at you during every exercise.

But here’s what actually matters – your core isn’t just your abs. It’s a complex system of muscles that work together to stabilise your spine and pelvis.

Common myths:
❌ More crunches = stronger core (actually, they often create more problems than they solve).
❌ Visible abs = functional core (six-packs are about body fat, not strength).
❌ You need special equipment (your own body weight is often enough).
❌ Core work should hurt (pain is not the goal).

What actually helps:
✓ Exercises that challenge stability in different positions.
✓ Movements that integrate your whole body.
✓ Breathing properly while moving.
✓ Building strength gradually and consistently.

At Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic, we can assess your actual core function and recommend exercises that work for your specific needs, not generic Instagram workouts.

Proper core strength prevents injuries and supports everything you do. Worth getting it right.

Doing ones own practice is usually hindered by a) 1 cat or b) 2 cats!

Guess I'll just chill here for a bit! 😅

On the plus side my home studio is coming along!

Unhealthy diets are by far our greatest risk factor for disease and death. However, physical activity is important for our health and longevity and should be encouraged as part of an overall healthy lifestyle.

Population studies have found a correlation between regular aerobic exercise and decreased risk of at least 35 different diseases, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.

Physical activity can help lower inflammation, as well as decrease DNA damage and facilitate DNA repair. A meta-analysis of cohort studies of middle-aged and older individuals, with follow-ups as long as 20 years, found that exercising adults were more likely to age successfully than sedentary individuals.

Exercise may also improve cognition, enhance mood, and generally improve quality of life. The evidence supporting the overall health benefits of physical activity are overwhelming.

Exercise is such powerful medicine that researchers at Stanford and the London School found that exercise may work as well as drugs for patients with coronary heart disease, heart failure, and pre-diabetes––and even better than some medications for stroke.

Just like any medicine, though, might exercise have an upper limit for benefitting our health and longevity? I cover that in the video “How Much Exercise Is Too Much?” at https://see.nf/3ZM4H6h

Walking is among the safest of physical activities, averaging only about one injury per thousand hours. So if you are just getting started with lifestyle changes, consider walking. For even more health benefits, take a walk in a wooded park for the added benefits of boosting your anticancer immunity.

Always consult your doctor before making any changes to your medication or exercise routine.

I think some clients felt like this after class today! 😂

One of the best feelings in the world. When a client comes up to you at the end of class and says "there's a strange thing I noticed since I started Pilates, I can now put my trousers on standing up"

Honestly it's the little things which are the big things in life.

Moving better equates to living better and fuller.
