Points Shared at Pancake Lane…

MK Irish were forced to settle for a point on the road as they drew 1-1 with Leverstock Green in the Southern League Division One Central.

Irish started brightly, with Taylor’s low ball across the box creating the first real chance of the afternoon, but the Leverstock Green goalkeeper eventually gathered.

The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute. Emond’s delivery caused problems for the hosts, with the goalkeeper spilling the ball and Zawe reacting quickest to fire Irish in front.

Leverstock Green levelled four minutes before half-time, as a deep free-kick was sent into the box and an unmarked runner headed home to make it 1-1 at the break.

Irish continued to look dangerous after the interval. On 63 minutes, R Smith played Emond through, with the forward getting to the ball ahead of the goalkeeper, but his effort was tipped behind for a corner.

The visitors came close again in the 77th minute when a corner was headed towards goal, only for the effort to be cleared off the line.

Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, with the points ultimately shared at Pancake Lane.

MK Irish Reserves 3-1 Winslow United Development

Spartan South Midlands Division Two

MK Irish Reserves secured all three points with an impressive 3-1 victory over Winslow United Development at Manor Fields.

The Greens had the first major chance of the afternoon when Bruno fired towards goal from the edge of the area, only for his effort to strike Drewe and bounce away.

The breakthrough arrived on 29 minutes. Harry Coleman pressed brilliantly to win possession from the Winslow defender before skipping past his man and laying the ball across to Jude Carey, who fired into the net to put Irish ahead.

Bruno came close to doubling the lead just before half-time with an ambitious effort from the halfway line, but his dipping shot went narrowly wide. Irish went into the break 1-0 ahead.

Winslow levelled five minutes into the second half when Toby struck from distance, leaving the score at 1-1.

Irish responded strongly and restored their lead on 70 minutes. A dangerous free-kick was whipped into the box and headed backwards by Kpamber, with the ball falling perfectly for Calum Drewe. Drewe showed great composure to dink the ball over the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

The Greens sealed the victory deep into stoppage time. Coleman once again won possession and drove forward before sliding the ball across to Theakston, who made no mistake from close range to make it 3-1.

A strong performance from Irish saw the Reserves claim a deserved three points against a strong Winslow United Development side.
