🚵‍♂️ CX ROUND 4 — STILL NOT LAST 😂

Sunday saw me back in the mud for Round 4 of the WMCCL at the Heart of England Centre.

Only my second ever cyclocross race and, once again, the course had absolutely everything , fast grass, climbs, descents, gravel and what felt like a trip back to 90s mountain biking. 😂

The plan was simple:

Stay upright.
Stay out of everyone’s way.
Finish the race.

I actually managed two out of three.

Another puncture meant another dose of tyre-related drama, but somehow I kept going and made it to the finish.

28th in the Senior category.

And, most importantly…

I WASN’T LAST. 🙌😂

For someone who only decided to give CX a go this year, I’m absolutely loving it. It’s brutal, it’s chaotic, it’s technically challenging and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing half the time.

Which probably explains why I’m enjoying it so much.

🚴‍♂️ THAT’S A WRAP ON THE ROAD SEASON! 🏁

What a season it’s been for Rugby Racing CC.

From first-time racers pinning on a number for the first time, to experienced riders battling it out at the sharp end, our club has been represented across road races, criteriums, time trials and championships throughout the season.

There have been podiums, PBs, points, breakaways, bunch sprints, mechanicals, crashes, questionable weather and plenty of miles in the legs. But more importantly, there’s been a brilliant group of riders supporting each other and putting the RRCC jersey out there.

A huge thank you to every rider who raced, supported, travelled, shouted from the roadside, helped with race organisation and represented Rugby Racing CC this year.

The results are great — but seeing more riders getting involved, moving through the categories and having a go is what makes us really proud.

🚴‍♂️ Rugby Flyer 2026 – 25 Mile Road Bike Only TT ⏱️

What a day for a time trial! ☀️

Fantastic weather conditions made for some seriously quick times, with 7 riders managing to break the one-hour barrier over the 25-mile course. That’s some proper speed! 🔥

🥇 Oliver Searle (AIRC) – 55:15
🥈 Sam Harding – 56:23
🥉 Grzegorz “The King” Kulej – 56:42

Huge congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge. A sub-hour 25-mile TT is no easy feat, and with seven riders achieving it, the standard was seriously high! 👏



A brilliant day of racing and another fantastic showcase of local time-trialling talent. 🚴‍♂️💨

Trouée d’Arenberg. The Arenberg Trench. A cobbled monster. 🧱🚴‍♂️

Even watching it is enough to give you anxiety.

This year, with all the MvdP drama, I genuinely didn’t know whether to watch it… or hide behind the sofa. 😂

As cyclists, we all know exactly where we were whenever that lead group smashes onto this hallowed ground.

Usually on the edge of our seats.

🚴‍♂️ NICK CLAYTON MEMORIAL — GRZEGORZ KULEJ

A tough way to finish an incredible season.

Grzegorz lined up for the 100km+ National B against a seriously strong field and it was full gas from the flag.

After more than 100km of brutal racing, cramp eventually got the better of him and he was forced to abandon.

Not the result he wanted, but what a season he’s had.

Cat 4 → Cat 2 in one season. 🚀
