🚨 RESULT 🚨

Mayobridge FC 4-2 Caledon Rovers

Yesterday we made it through to the next round of the Mid Ulster Shield after a good win against Caledon Rovers in Jennings Park.

We took the lead in the first 20 minutes through Liam Mathers, but were pegged back about 10 minutes later to make it 1-1. Barnsey got a goal though not long after this equaliser and we went into the break 2-1 up.

The second half saw Caledon once again level things up within the first 10 minutes and stayed that way for most of the half. But Barnsey got his second of the day with about 10 minutes to go, before Shea Byrne sealed the win with a late goal to make it 4-2.

Good to get through against a tough team and best of luck to Caledon for the rest of the season.

A big thank you to the match ball sponsor for yesterdays game J T Gorman & Sons & Sons

🚨 RESULT 🚨

Mayobridge FC 5-3 Rossowen

Today seen us get another 3 points on the board as we beat Rossowen in a hard fought game in Clonallon.

We started the game very brightly and went 2-0 up early on through goals from Barnsey (pen) and Shea Byrne. However, the game seen a quick shift and Rossowen ended up drawing level at 2-2 fairly quickly. It stayed that way until half time.

Rossowen started the second half better as well and went ahead through a penalty. They carried on playing the better football but in the final 20 minutes we took a foothold in the game and went ahead through a great double from Cory Quinn. We added another late on with Matt Hillel getting his first goal for the club.

Not our best performance but very important 3 points were got.

🚨 RESULT 🚨

Mayobridge FC 7-3 Magheralin Village

A great win for the team yesterday as we beat Mid Ulster side Magheralin Village to get to the next round of the Mid Ulster Shield.

The game didn’t start well though as Magheralin took the lead inside 2 minutes. However, we started to take control of the game and went 3-1 up thanks to goals from Barnsey, Mackers and Thomas Hardy. On the stroke of half time though they scored another to pull it back to 3-2.

In the second half we came out and were playing the better football, and scored 4 brilliant goals - another 2 each for Mackers and Barnsey as they both completed their hat trick. The visitors did pull another back late on but overall we definitely deserved the win.

Thanks to our match sponsors for today as well - BCG Breakers and O'Rourke Paving & Groundworks.

RESULT

Mayobridge 2-6 Cleary Celtic

Yesterday saw us lose our first game of the season as we fell to a 6-2 defeat against Cleary Celtic.

We started the game very well and took the lead inside 20 minutes with a great volley from Mackers. We were the better team at this stage but Cleary equalised about 5 minutes later, and then added another 2 within 10 minutes, including a penalty. Things could’ve went worse but Mick Gall made a great penalty save on stroke of half time to keep it at 3-1.

The second half started brilliantly for us when Brendy Cunningham made it 3-2. However, Cleary quickly restored their 2 goal lead. We continued to play well and create chances, but ultimately couldn’t take any of them and they scored 2 more late on to make it 6-2.

The scoreline didn’t reflect the overall game and it was a good test against the best team in the league.

🚨 RESULT 🚨

Mayobridge FC 2-1 Villa Rovers

A great win today as we took the 3 points in a hard fought game against Villa Rovers.

The first half wasn’t a classic by any means and chances were few and far between for both sides, and it was goalless at half time.

The second half is where all the action started and we took the lead when Conor Garvey took it round the keeper and slotted home. It wasn’t long after that we made it 2-0 with Barnsey scoring a great free kick. Villa did manage to pull one back late on but we held on for the win.

Our first win the Premier Division in what was also our first outing in our new jerseys. A massive thank you to Coke Laverty’s Bar and Lounge for sponsoring the team once again.
