Great coverage today from the BBC on Northampton Rowing Club 50th Anniversary 🎉

Our Club Captain Andrew Miller is keen for people to know that rowing is a very inclusive sport and its inexpensive too, quoting "people have access and opportunities for a sensible fee of about £30-36 per month, with some using the boats up to nine times a week."

With alumni including Olympic gold medallists Georgie Brayshaw and James Rudkin, and more recently Teagan Smith selected for the British under-19s team - Northampton Rowing Club continues to go from strength to strength.

Two shopping trolleys, a milk churn, tyres, an old bike and even a drill and charger still in its box were among a huge haul of rubbish pulled from the River Nene during a major clean-up in Northampton.

All our superheroes successfully completed the Great Ouse 22km. Massively proud of them all - a Superhuman effort all round.

No winners tankards as not enough competition in any of the categories however they are all winners in our eyes.

For the juniors:
Big respect to Mae, Libby & Poppy for putting themselves up for this challenge in a single. The amount of rowing isn’t easy alone, it’s lonely out there and a real endurance test both physically and mentally.

Fraser & Nik bagged themselves a new course records for the J18 2x category despite racing up💪 💪

In the open 2x category Henry and Will finished in a very respectable time, especially given the fact they’ve not been in a boat together for a good few months.

Junior coach Mark. What a hero he is - virtually no training going into it but still crossed the line with a smile on his face. Out there supporting the juniors in the worst way possible!

For the seniors
Simon gallantly pushed through injury to get his 22km boxed off raising very much needed club maintenance funds 🙏

Men’s 4x romped home as third fastest boat of the day despite rumours of Captaincy acrobatics mid race!

We salute you all 🚣 🟡⚫️

Thank you to everyone who has donated to either of the crowdfunders which have been running alongside this race. All funds will be well utilised for maintenance and new equipment.

All that’s left to do now is for everyone to turn up at the club today and compare how many blisters they have and who is walking the slowest!

..🔔On Sunday 6th September, 8 members of our junior team are taking part in the Great Ouse Marathon. 22km of single sculling. This will be a huge achievement for the individuals taking part as their typical racing distance is 1k or less.

Can you sponsor the team? Any amount is hugely appreciated. They are working hard to raise £2k to support buying a new single sculling boat, enabling the club to better compete at national and GB level.

It will give them a huge boost to go into race on Sunday having nearly hit their target - thank you from the team!
