Another weekend means another squash competition for our juniors. An England Squash Silver event held in Gloucestershire. Joseph Underwood was competing in the Boys U15’s. It was a great weekend overall, playing against top opposition in every round. Joseph managed to get to the final and narrowly lost out 2-1 with a close finish. Could have gone either way in the final. Squash levels are now above 5k. Hard work on and off the court is paying off. 🌟🌟🥈🩶

Update for Eve and Joseph on the England junior Surrey Gold.

Eve - First comp of the season done. It was a toughie for Eve for a few reasons not least coming up against fierce opposition all vying for the first opportunity to get selection points on the board. She’s off to Birmingham Uni next weekend to start the next phase of her squash journey as she transitions out of juniors to seniors. We wish her all the very best.

Joseph - The weekend was a super tough draw going by the talent on display. He had some cracking games throughout the competition. At one point he even passed 5000 on squash levels which was amazing. In the end his finishing position was 7th out of 32, exceeding his 9-16 seeding. Which will mean loads of points towards Road to Selection and current England rankings. Onwards and upwards for this young squash player.

It’s an exciting time of the year, the beginning of the England Junior Squash calendar. With tournaments coming thick and fast we kicked off last night in the Surrey Gold. Two of our outstanding performers taking part this weekend.

In the Boys U15’s Joseph Underwood, won his first round match 3-1, with a super controlled performance. He’s now guaranteed to finish in the top 18. Tough day for him today but looking forward to seeing how he gets on.

In the Girls U19’s Eve Parkins has played two games, one win and one loss so far. This age group has two boxes of 5 players in it. Once all box games are played Eve will play for her finishing position against the equivalent player in the other box.

This event is the first England Junior selection event of the year. So throughout the year each age group will have certain competitions they need to compete well in, to gain points for the selection process. It’s mainly the big events such as BJC / BJO / EJC and all the Golds. Once all these competitions are finished around March time England squash can crunch the numbers and find out who deserves a place in the squads for European and World events which take place Spring/Summer.

🌍🏆 From England call-up to the World Stage! 🇬🇧

A few weeks ago, we celebrated the fantastic news that Eve Parkins had been selected to represent England at the 2026 World Squash Junior Championships in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada. Now she’s home with an unforgettable experience and an achievement to be incredibly proud of.

Called up at the last minute, Eve embraced the opportunity to compete against the world’s best under-19 players. While nerves got the better of her in her opening individual match, she showed remarkable resilience, bouncing back to win her remaining three individual matches – a true reflection of her determination and character. 💪

Eve also played her part in the England girls’ team alongside Emily Coulcher-Porter, Reka Kemecsei and Harriet Broadbridge. The team secured impressive victories over Macau, China, Japan, and Canada, before finishing 6th in the world – an outstanding achievement against the very best junior squash nations.

To represent your country at a World Championships is something many athletes only dream of. Eve’s journey is a testament to years of dedication, hard work and perseverance, and we’re incredibly proud to have watched her achieve this milestone.

👏 Congratulations, Eve, on an amazing tournament. We can’t wait to see what comes next!

Good luck this weekend to these two Lings Squash juniors. They are competing in the England Squash Lincoln Silver event. This is a highly levelled competition with top talent from all over the country competing. May 16th and 17th

Martha Waterson Girls Under 13’s - New to the age group Martha is seeking to lay some ground work and set up for next seasons push to achieve great things at other events.

Joseph Underwood Boys Under 15’s - After a strong season Joseph has made great strides in his first year of the age category. Already an impressive 12th in the national rankings. He returns to this competition after winning it last year in U13’s.
