Do you know how to use the B.R.A.I.N acronym when it comes to making birth decisions?

B – Benefits. What are the benefits of what is being presented? How will this help me or my baby?

R – Risks. What are the risks, side effects or possible complications?

A – Alternatives. What are the alternatives? Are there other options?

I – Intuition. What is my gut telling me? What do I feel without the external noise of others?

N – Nothing. What if we do nothing and wait?

We often assume that what we are presented with during pregnancy appointments and birth gives us the full picture, but that is not always the case. Conversations and recommendations can be one sided, or presented without factual evidence and/or statistics.

Doing the reading and research during pregnancy can help considerably when it comes to making informed decisions, helping you feel comfortable and confident to walk your path on your unique journey of transitioning your baby earth side

If you are looking for a specific pregnancy movement class, with added information like this, please check out my bump yoga+ classes.

Motion is lotion. Movement is lubrication. Lotion and lubrication help reduce tension, which can highlight pain and discomfort.

I see and work with so many women during pregnancy who stop in their third trimester. And whilst I whole heartedly promote listening to your body and easing into patience and rest in these final weeks, I also promote keeping mobile.

This post is not about running, going to the gym or doing exercise that is physically exerting, although I will 100% support anyone wanting to. This post is about keeping the body moving and mobile. Keeping ligaments happy and as balanced as possible, to support not only your body but the space your baby will navigate on your birth giving day.

If you would like to attend a specific pregnancy class that helps, my next set of bump yoga+ classes start on 10 September.

We often assume we’ll know automatically what to do, and it come easy. However for many it doesn’t. Know where help is before you need it. I recommend in class Breastfeeding Norfolk and No Milk Like Mama's

Update for anyone who's been asking about the feeding..
The lactation consultant came and honestly, best thing I've done. Turns out I'd been doing a few things that were making the mastitis worse without even knowing.

Nobody hands you a manual for this. You're just expected to know how to do something your body's never done before, while running on no sleep, and then feel guilty when it's hard.

It's a full time job.. the feeding, the expressing to top her up cos she's a chunk, the washing and sterilising. Genuinely relentless.

But I'm getting there. And I'm proud of myself for asking for help instead of suffering in silence.

If you're struggling with feeding right now.. get the help. You don't get a medal for struggling through it 🩷

The + makes all the difference when it comes to bump yoga+ classes.

We have some beautiful and amazing pregnancy yoga classes in . However bump yoga+ is not only pregnancy yoga.

Bump yoga+ includes prenatal Pilates, exercise and movement from me also being a fitness instructor and personal trainer and lots of specific biomechanics from my training with both Spinning Babies and Molly O'Brien chanics

Classes are 90 minutes to ensure we get an hours class but also time to discuss topics surrounding pregnancy, birth and beyond. For example in last night’s class we looked at fibre, its importance to both pregnancy and overall health and looked at considerations and thoughts to help with your fourth trimester.

August classes are now fully booked but course dates have now been added for September.

Pregnancy should not be painful.

Yes there will be periods of feeling stretched to the max, discomfort and being uncomfortable, but pain, no.

Everyone blames the hormone relaxin, but this is one small possible contributing factor (and nothing works in isolation, so other hormones play a role too).

If you’re experiencing pain, you can refer to the amazing team at the hospital for a check, or there are some fab private practitioners too if that’s what you’d prefer.

If you’re looking for a weekly, pregnancy specific, movement class that includes lots of information and education about your changing body during pregnancy and preparing to birth and enter motherhood, please come check out bump yoga+.

Birth isn't a test you pass or fail.

Sometimes birth unfolds differently than we hoped. Plans change. Unexpected challenges arise. That doesn't mean you failed.

Your strength isn't measured by how your baby is born. It's measured by the love, courage, and resilience you bring to the journey.

You did not fail. You gave birth.

Sometimes, no one and nothing is at fault. Sometimes systems fail us. But you? You cannot fail at birth.

Motion is lotion and not only can it help towards you feeling more comfortable during pregnancy but can also help towards assisting your baby into a space and position for birth.

Now I think it is important to note that there is no right or wrong position for baby and birth, but when it comes to modern day maternity units, they are not always so accommodating to some of these variations.

When you move it acts like a natural lubricant, helping create space. Creating space with movement helps release tension, minimise changes in posture which can affect rib cage mobility and invite a balance between action and activity and rest and relaxation.

If you are looking to move during your pregnancy, please check out bumpfit aquanatal, an active water based class and bump yoga+, which combines yoga, Pilates and specific biomechanics for pregnancy and birth.
