As we look forward to the 2026/2027 season, we wanted to reflect on the growth of our womenβs and girlβs section. In just 5 years since launching these sections, Market Bosworth Rugby Club has developed a thriving and successful female pathway that is now a huge part of our club.
π 151 registered female players
π A full team at every age group from U12 to U18
π Girls developing through our Cubs programme in U9/U10
π A growing Senior Womenβs team
π 5 players selected for the England Rugby PDG pathway
π 14 U18 girls and 10 U16 girls selected for county squads
π 12 girls playing in elite rugby college programmes
π 5 Senior Women selected for county squads
π U18 Girls County Cup winners
From our youngest Cubs to our Senior Women, these achievements are a testament to the commitment, passion and hard work of our players, coaches, volunteers, supporters and sponsors.

Market Bosworth Lionesses signed off the season in style with a 43β27 victory over Barkers Butts, but the scoreline doesnβt quite tell the full story of what was a fiercely contested and physical game.
From the first whistle, Barkers Butts put in a huge defensive shift, making the Bosworth girls work hard for every metre. Their determination and strong tackling meant the Lionesses had to stay patient, build phases, and rely on teamwork and discipline to create scoring opportunities. It was a solid, competitive match throughout, with both teams showing great commitment and grit β exactly the kind of battle youβd expect in a final game of the season.
Despite the tough opposition, the Lionesses stuck to their structure and played some excellent rugby across the pitch, supporting each other in attack and digging deep in defence when needed. It was a fitting way to close out the season β a performance built on teamwork, resilience, and effort.
π Players of the Match
Forward of the Match: Faff
An outstanding performance from Faff, whose incredible running lines caused problems all game. Her defensive work was just as impressive, putting in big tackles and showing relentless work rate from start to finish.
Back of the Match: Robyn
Robyn delivered a superb all-round performance, including try-saving tackles, brilliant line breaks, and strong contributions in both attack and defence. She also kicked some excellent conversions that would have made George Ford proud! A well-deserved recognition for an excellent game.
Oppositionβs Player of the Match: Doc
Chosen by Barkers Butts, Doc was a constant threat with great running lines and made life extremely difficult for the opposition throughout the match.
π Special Mention
A very special mention goes to the absolute legend that is Baz.
Weβve loved every single second of having you play for us, and while weβre sad to see you head back to Cov Welsh, we wish you nothing but the very best. Thank you for everything youβve given to the Lionesses β the commitment, energy, and the laughter youβve brought to this team have meant so much to us all. Youβve been more than just a teammate; youβve been a huge part of what makes this squad so special.
Youβll be missed massively both on and off the pitch β and honestlyβ¦ whoβs going to provide the lap dances on tour now?! π
Thank you, Baz β once a Lioness, always a Lioness. π¦π
