Introducing the newest recruits to the Accies family!
Cubert now has a baby brother and sister… meet The Fred Fox Shed Box (known simply as Fred) and The Florence Perch (Flo)!
Named after our legendary coach Fred Fox, Fred has taken on the vital role of storing rowing equipment — trestles, buckets, wet towels, sponges, and all the other essentials — while also helping keep Cubert a little less soggy. Early signs suggest he’s already outperforming several members in basic organisation.
Flo, named after nearby Florence Park (home turf for many of our members), has quickly established herself as the go-to venue for deep tactical discussions, post-row snacks, and the occasional existential crisis.
Together, they’ll be affectionately known as Fred & Flo — which, fittingly, is also the name of Tesco’s baby clothing range. We’re still waiting on the sponsorship deal… Tesco fancy a brand deal? 👀
Huge thanks to Oxford Wood Recycling for helping us bring Fred into the fold — he’s settling in brilliantly and, unlike the rest of us, seems completely unfazed by the British weather.

🚣♀️ Ever wanted to give rowing a go? Now’s your chance! 🚣♂️
Join us on Sunday 14th June for our Learn to Row Taster Day and discover what rowing is all about in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment.
Based in the heart of Oxford, just below Donnington Bridge, our club is the perfect place to learn a new sport, meet great people and get out on the water this summer ☀️
Our Learn to Row course will run from Saturday 20th June to Monday 10th August, with sessions taking place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, as well as Monday evenings. The course gradually builds skills and confidence, starting on rowing machines and in the rowing tank before progressing onto the water with experienced coaches and club members.
Perfect for anyone looking to stay fit, try something new, and find a new community — we’d love to welcome you!
Following the Taster Day, selected participants will be invited to join the full 8-week course, which costs £200.

Last weekend, Accies hosted 12 rowers, along with two coaches and a cox, from Utrecht during their visit to Oxford. The masters rowers first visited Oxford 20 years ago and decided to return for their annual trip this year!
The group enjoyed outings on Saturday morning and raced in Sunday Heads, fielding their own VIII+ as well as combining with Accies rowers to make up a second VIII+. We were also able to show them some of the highlights of Oxford rowing life — including the all-important breakfast on Saturday morning.
It was a wonderful opportunity to host the Utrecht crew, and we would welcome them back anytime. Hopefully we can arrange a return visit in the future too!

A fantastic day at City Bumps yesterday for our Women’s VIII+ 💥
Starting 5th in Division 1 and finishing 7th overall (-2), it was a tough but really rewarding day of racing against strong competition. We kicked things off with a solid row over, holding off the chasing crew, before getting caught right at the end in Round 2. The crew dug in again in Round 3 to hold them off once more, and although we were bumped again at the end of the final round, it was another seriously hard-fought race.
All in all, a full day of relentless racing that showed real Accies spirit and determination — and a pretty great way to kick off regatta season 🚣♀️
Huge thank you to everyone who made it happen, both on and off the water — rowers, coxes, coaches, pole crew, judges, and everyone supporting on the bank 🙌
And of course, it was all rounded off with a very well-deserved trip to the pub 🍻
Thank you to for hosting another wonderful event❤️🖤

28 Accies had a wonderful 4 days on training camp . After a drizzly first day the sun came out and we could appreciate the stunning spring scenery in Exmoor. This was a camp where we could use the big and quiet lake to learn something new - sculling, steering, coxing - as well as prepare for regatta season. We all stayed at nearby Dulverton, booking out the hostel which allowed us to cook delicious meals and eat together. A fabulous location and a really successful camp❤️🖤
It was also lovely to share the lake with and we wish you success in your summer races!

With the captains (and much of the club) away on training camp at Wimbleball, a crew determined to get out made the most of the freedom and took out a women’s VII+ (3 seat is optional, right?). The result was a lovely morning on the water, with great vibes, good weather, and plenty of energy all round.
While the captains are away, the kids can play…❤️🖤

What a day at Abingdon Spring Head! 💥
Accies took 7 crews down and delivered an incredible set of performances across the board, taking on some seriously unpredictable weather along the way.
The W4+ turned into an all-Accies showdown – a brilliant race with every crew putting in a performance to be proud of.
Elsewhere, both pairs and the Op 4+ showed real strength, posting some impressive times.
A special shoutout to the Mas 4+, who not only won their category but also smashed last year’s time by 32s👏
Huge credit as well to our supporters, who lined the bank all day and battled the elements with impressive determination (and some creative attempts to stay dry!).
A fantastic day representing Accies, rounded off in the best way with a trip to The Rusty Bicycle🍻
Thank you to Abingdon Rowing Club for hosting such a great event – we’ll definitely be back!
