Well done to the 2016 Blues! 👏

Yesterday at Pitreavie our Blues were up against Crossgates Yellows!

Despite the downpour, our Blues were quick off the mark, passing and moving in triangles which was excellent to watch! The training ground movements beginning to pay off in game - resulting in some brilliant team goals! Off the ball was just as good, working hard to get the ball back when out of possession, and finding space when we were back in it! ⚽️

Yellow POTM Card went to Jayce, who worked hard up top, defended from the front, and got his rewards with a handful of goals! Well done Jayce! 👏

Fair City 0-1 AM Soccer
(League)

It wasn’t exactly ideal weather for football today, unless you’re a duck 🦆 😜

We went down 1-0 at home to last season’s all conquering quadruple winners, AM Soccer.
We’ve had a few heavy defeats to this lot in the past but recent matches we’ve definitely closed the gap.

Today we gave a really good account of ourselves and on another day we maybe sneak a draw.
There was very little between the teams and the lads can be proud of their effort.

Nobody likes getting beat but loads of positives to take from the performance.

Well done lads!!!

Everyone

A deserved shoutout to everyone again today. To a man they gave everything they had, battling for 90 full on minutes. Excellent 👌

As you can see from our team photo, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the character building, football match played in the torrential, sideways rain 😂😂

Fair City 2013 Whites had a full schedule this weekend.

First up on Saturday was our annual away day with the full squad taking in some Lazertag followed by Bowling.

Then for the football, an away day in the 2nd round of the Scottish Cup to an in form Raith Rovers CC team. The boys knew it was going to be a tough game against well organized opposition.

Some great football on show from both teams with FC taking the first half and Raith taking the second half, which meant it all went down to penalties.

Well done to all the boys who stepped up and slotted home their penalties. Reuben pulled of a fantastic save with Raiths final penalty to make sure the boys progressed to the next round.

Well done to Raith Rovers CC for a great game and all the best for the rest of the season.

As usual the boys want to thank all their sponsors, in particular this weekend has been sponsored by some very well know fried chicken establishments, not sure the coaches need any more for a while.

2012 Blues travelled to Dundee today for their 2nd round Scottish cup tie away to DDYFA 1st division team Riverside West End Blues.

Was always going to be a tough game so we set up accordingly and first half was pretty end to end stuff. Riverside were to break the deadlock on 25 mins with a headed shot which Ben could do nothing about. Fair City’s head didn’t go down though and George was to level it 9 mins later after he met Conalls cross.

2nd half was much the same with both teams having chances. Some excellent saves from Ben in the last 15 mins kept the score at 1-1. The blues always looked like we had a goal in us and that came via captain George again as he stormed through the middle to calmly slot home with 5 mins left to play.

Riverside kept pushing and their tricky winger was clipped by Levi in the box in the last minute and they scored the resultant penalty to make it 2-2 and send the game into penalties.

Penalties is always a horrible way to decide it and it was certainly very nerve racking stuff with Lachlann, Dylan, Jack C all scoring theirs and Ben W saving 2 out of 4 penalties. Alfie, who seemed to be the coolest person in the campus, stepped up calmly to make it 4-2, sending the blues into the 3rd round!

Delighted for the team today. The full squad contributed - all the boys put a shift in. Had some great performances recently but didn’t get the results we wanted but it went our way today, even if it did take penalties to get us through. Well done to you all! Thanks also to Riverside. A very well contested cup tie played in good spirits!

U14s

Kirriemuir v Fair City

A hard earned away victory for the girls today, with a narrow 1-2 win 👏

We created loads of chances and probably could’ve made life a little easier for ourselves if we’d been a bit more ruthless in front of goal, but we’ll happily take a gritty away win!

Our back 3 were outstanding. Solid from start to finish and giving the considerable Kirrie attack, we gave them very little to work with. Our attacks were built on our solid defensive foundations.

There was plenty of good attacking football and some excellent work off the ball. We kept pushing and finally we got our reward with a late winner. Love it!

Job done 🔴⚪️

Now…….about those missed chances. We’ll pretend it was all part of the plan 😜

All the best to Kirriemuir. Always a tough and even encounter when we play.
