SIGNING NUMBER 4!!!

Penwortham Cricket Club are thrilled to welcome Alex Rhodes, who joins us from Great Eccleston.

Alex is a proven all-rounder and has been a consistent performer in recent years, making him another fantastic addition to the club for 2027.

Having already played 152 games for Great Eccleston 1st XI, Alex has scored just shy of 3,000 runs at an average of over 21, including three centuries. He has also taken 187 wickets at an average of 25.

Alex adds tremendous quality with both bat and ball, and we’re certain he’ll be a real hit at Middleforth Green.

Welcome to Penwortham, Rhodesy! 💙💛

More reaction to Friday’s signing of Sahaan Sahaan as our Club Professional for 2027.

Firstly, from the man himself:

Sahaan Sahaan (Club Professional)

“Thank you so much, everyone, for the warm welcome. It truly means a lot to me, and I’m incredibly proud and grateful to be part of Penwortham Cricket Club.

I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, giving my best for the team, contributing wherever I can, and sharing some great moments together. I’m excited to get to know you all better, build strong friendships, and create plenty of unforgettable memories along the way.

I’m honoured to be part of this club and can’t wait to get started. Here’s to a great season together 💙💛”

Nathan Walmsley (Club Captain)

“Sahaan is an incredible addition to our squad next season. We witnessed first-hand this summer just how talented he is and what an exceptional all-rounder he is.

When we sat down last week, I knew straight away that he was the sort of person who would fit in perfectly at our club and be great around the players.

I want as many players in our eleven as possible who can impact the full 100 overs of the game, and with the additions we’ve made so far, I think everyone associated with the club can be excited about next summer already.”

Steve Lodge (Head of Cricket)

“As a club, we are extremely proud to be able to sign Sahaan and get this deal over the line.

He brings genuine quality with both bat and ball, and I think both his cricketing ability and personality will be a perfect fit for this club.

I’m extremely looking forward to Sahaan spearheading the team’s ambitions in 2027, and I can’t wait for him to get started.”

Sahaan is Blue & Gold ✍🏼

Penwortham Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Sahaan Sahaan will be our named professional for the 2027 season.

Sahaan joins us following an outstanding 2026 season with fellow Northern League club Lytham, where he established himself as the standout all-rounder in the league.

And his numbers speak for themselves…

🔥 82 wickets in all competitions at an average of just 13

🔥 A remarkable strike rate of 19

🔥 Best figures of 7/34 against Morecambe

🔥 800 runs

🔥 7 fifties

A truly outstanding all-round campaign.

We couldn’t be happier to welcome Sahaan to Middleforth Green and are incredibly excited to see what he can bring to Penwortham in 2027.

We know our members, supporters and everyone connected with the club will be delighted with the news — and we can’t wait to see Sahaan at Middleforth Green

Everyone at PCC would like to send our heartfelt condolences to everyone at Thornton Cleveleys and to Trevor’s family. RIP, Trevor. 💙💛

Thornton Cleveleys Cricket Club are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Club President, Trevor Wilde, passed away yesterday morning.

A former Chairman, Captain, Umpire and Coach, Trevor positively impacted the lives of so many current and former members of TCCC as well as those in the wider cricketing community.

In recent years, you could always find Trevor down at the Illawalla on a Sunday morning handing out cups of tea to coaches, offering pearls of wisdom to Junior Cricketers, and collecting two bacon sandwiches to take home for himself and his wife Joan.

Trevor leaves a lasting legacy at the Illawalla which will help inspire countless youngsters on their cricketing journeys to come, and he will be sorely missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The thoughts of everyone at TCCC are with Joan and all of Trevor's loved ones at this time
