Yesterday we welcomed Lesmahagow CFC who made the 80 mile round trip to William Field for the 1st Round in the SYFA Regional Cup.

Conditions throughout tne game were certainly challenging as both teams battled against heavy wind and rain which made playing football difficult at times.

In our last couple of games, we’ve struggled to get going from the start, pleasingly. we made a much better start this week but just couldn’t find that spark in tne final third to convert the chances we created. Lesmahagow opened the scoring 5 minutes before half time and went into the break 1-0 ahead

Start of the 2nd half and we were optimistic given we now had the wind behind us, sadly though any possible advantage was extinguished early on as Lesmahagow scored 3 goals in the space of 5 minutes to lead 4-0 and give themselves a comfortable cushion. We kept fighting and never gave up, Olllie won us a penalty which he calmly converted then added a 2nd later on to make the score 4-2. The momentum began to switch in our favour but there wasn’t enough time on the clock to stage.a hopeful comeback and that’s how the game finished.

Despite this being our first competitive loss, we take away a number of positives from the performance. The boys should be pleased how they performed against a very well organised CLYFA B Division team who were good for their win

The boys played their first ever match in the SYFA Scottish Cup on Saturday there with an away trip to Cowie. Both teams have made great starts to the season, both undefeated in competitive matches and both in the League Cup semi finals, an exciting match was in store.

1st half and the boys started off very slowly, we were ragged and found ourselves out of position. We created minimal chances and again just couldn’t find a rhythm to get going. Cowie were good for their lead going into the break 2-1 ahead.

The start of the 2nd half saw them finally waken up. From 2-1 down, we managed to get ourselves 3-2 ahead with 2 brilliantly taken goals from Campbell, the 1st was a finely placed curling shot into the bottom right corner of the net and his 2nd was an audacious lob style shot over the top of the keeper and into the net. From there, we were hoping to kick on but alas that wasn’t the case. Cowie kept plugging away and equalised with a nicely struck free kick and regained the lead shortly after to make the game 4-3. For anyone who is a regular reader of our match reports, you’ll know the one quality our boys posses in abundance is that they never give up. Through our strong mental resilience we did find our equaliser through Ruaridh which turned out to be the last goal of the game

The lottery of penalties now awaited both teams.

Given this was our first competitive shoutout, a special mention should be made to the 5 who volunteered to take penalties under such pressure.
Our keeper Zayd made perhaps one of the best penalty saves I’ve seen at this level which gave the boys a boost. Our winning penalty was converted by Logan which booked us into the 2ind round draw much to the delight of the Cambusbarron boys.

The boys get their first flavour of the Scottish Youth Cup this weekend with an away trip to Cowie.

These 2 teams have had excellent starts to the season with both remaining undefeated so far in competitive football.

This promises to be a cracker of a game so come along and support the boys if you can 🔴⚪️

Match Day 2 in our league fixtures saw us on our travels for the first time not far along the road as we played Riverside. Away games won’t come much more picturesque than this with the sun shining and the Wallace Monument standing tall in the background

The game itself can be best described as that renowned footballing cliche ….. A game of two halves.

The Cambusbarron boys started the game a little nervy and struggled to find their rhythm going into the break 2-1 down.

The 2nd half was a different story. The boys came out looking a lot more like themselves of recent weeks where they started to take control of the game and apply the pressure on our opponents. Our equaliser came through Ali who slotted it nicely into the corner and it was game on. Our 3rd goal and perhaps the pick of the bunch was scored by our debutant Ryan who stepped up and buried his free kick into the net putting us ahead for the first time. Credit where credit’s due, we didn’t sit back and kept pushing forward looking to add another when Ruaridh stepped up and sealed the deal with his 2nd of the game and more importantly gave us a 2 goal cushion with minutes to go.

Final whistle and the turnaround was complete, a well deserved 4-2 victory for the Cambusbarron boys 🔴⚪️

Next up is the 1st Round of the Scottish Youth Cup before returning to league action the week after.

We thank Riverside for hosting and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.

After a win in their opening league game, the Cambusbarron 2014 boys make the short journey away to Riverside for Match Day 2 in what promises to be an entertaining fixture between two equally matched teams.

With the boys reaching the League Cup semi final last weekend, we welcomed Milngavie United F.C for the opening fixture of our League Campaign.

A fantastic 1st half saw the boys take the lead after only a few minutes and from there on we created many chances through our fast fluent passing football going into the break with a 5-1 lead. More of the same going into the 2nd half seen the boys run out 9-2 winners.

The most pleasing aspect of today’s performance was seeing 6 different goal scorers. As a team, the boys continue to grow into their 11’s journey and performances like today demonstrate that through all their hard work and efforts in both training and in games, the results are more than deserving.

We wish Milngavie United F.C all the best for the season ahead.

After successfully qualifying for the knockout stages in the League Cup, We now move onto our opening league fixture this weekend against Milngavie FC United.

The boys have been working hard in training and are looking forward to the match ahead.

The boys made the early morning trip through to Bishopbriggs to play EDFC Red in a winner takes all match with the victor progressing to the knockout stages.

In an extremely cagey start, we took the lead after a nicely played through ball from Ruaridh found Ollie who calmly slotted it past the keeper to make it 0-1. After the goal, EDFC grew more into the game and started taking control but a fantastic performance from our defence meant we went into the break ahead.

A slow start to the 2nd half saw us lose 2 goals in quick succession and before we knew it we were trailing. The boys knuckled down and got back into the match through a nicely taken goal from Ali before falling behind again.

From there on, the boys moved up a gear and a lot of the free flowing passing football we’ve been playing was back on show, a corner delivered into the box found Callum who turned it in and we were back level.

Our winner was the pick of the bunch with Niall collecting the ball and shooting from outside the box putting it past the keeper and into the top of the net.

The boys held on and breathed a sigh of relief after a tightly fought match which seen them finish as group winners. it was a fantastic display of mental resilience and determination to get back into game from behind twice and much credit goes to them for not letting their heads drop.

We wish EDFC Red all the best for the season ahead.

Sadly our fixture last night had to be postponed resulting in the boys picking up the default win

We now move onto a winner takes all game this Saturday against EDFC Red with a place in the League Cup semi finals up for grabs.

Today saw the Cambusbarron Rovers 2014 boys play their first competitive match at 11-a-side against Lenzie in the League Cup

From kick off, the football on display was brilliant to see with the boys working hard for each other and getting the result they deserved.

We welcome Cumbernauld Juniors to William Field in the next round of League Cup fixtures on Tuesday 🔴⚪️
