Milton United FC U10’s v Biddulph Town FC Royals

Today’s game was a frustrating watch for us all. The team had some great spells at times, but we lacked decision-making in some vital areas.

As coaches, we need to make our players aware of just how important it is to know your positions inside out and understand exactly what your role requires. This is something we will be working hard on during our training sessions.

We managed to pull the game back with two great goals and, at that point, I thought, “Here we go, let’s go on and score a few more!” Unfortunately, the game went the other way. Our heads seemed to drop, and we allowed Biddulph to sneak ahead. At that point, it felt like a lot of our confidence was knocked.

However, there were plenty of positives to take from the game.

💎 Parents’ Player of the Game – Lizzie
We had a little diamond in goal today! Lizzie prevented at least three goals with some fantastic shot-stopping — absolutely brilliant goalkeeping.
Her bravery really stood out when she came rushing off her line to close down an attack. She took a kick to the back in the process, but like the warrior she is, she got straight back up and carried on.
A very well-deserved Parents’ Player of the Game. 👏🧤

⭐ Players’ Player of the Game – Cruz
A really solid performance in defence from Cruz. He cleared almost everything that came his way, stayed close to his opposition without being told and consistently won the ball back for his team.
You also did a great job of starting the process of our attacks from the back. A very well-deserved award, Cruz. 👏

🏆 Manager’s Player of the Game – Freddie
Freddie, you worked your absolute socks off today! Up and down the pitch, you constantly looked to help your team progress into the final third whenever you got the ball.
A superbly controlled volley got us back into the game, following a great assist from Phiwa on the right wing. ⚽️
Overall, Freddie, you should be very proud of your performance today. 👏

We can see just how much you all are developing each week, and it’s amazing to watch! We know the potential you all have — now we want you to start recognising it yourselves.

The next step is making those decisions for yourselves, rather than waiting for guidance from the sidelines. Know your position, understand your role and trust yourselves to make the right decisions. 💪

We look forward to next week and, hopefully, showing everyone just how good we can be! 💙🤍⚽️

Olly O'brien Milton United Under 18's Captain as run the Potters Arf Marathon 2026 in memory of his dad's best friend Will Brazier....Olly took on the challenge in place of his dad (Liam O'Brien) Who Through recent back surgery couldn't do the Potters Arf Marathon...Olly O'brien with little to no training due to minor Hamstring & Ankle Injuries himself...completed the Potters Arf Marathon under 1hr 50mins
(Still awaiting the official time)

Ashleigh-
An excellent performance full of effort from start to finish. Ashleigh was always looking for space, making runs and working her legs off for the team.
We moved her over to the right, and she immediately dealt with the threat in front of her while also tracking back exactly as we had asked. It was brilliant to see her listen, adapt and put the work in for the team.
She’s a keen and enthusiastic player who always wants to improve, and she was rewarded for her hard work with another goal this week.
Well done Ashleigh — thoroughly deserved! 👏⚽️

🏆 Parents Player 🏆
Renai-
Renai showed bags of effort from start to finish, kept her cool and responded brilliantly to everything the game threw at her. She was often first to the ball, worked hard going forward and was equally willing to get back and support the defence.
She finished the game with 2 goals and 2 assists, but it was her all-round effort and attitude that really stood out. She kept pushing, kept working for the team and showed great determination throughout.
A fantastic performance, Renai — a thoroughly deserved trophy! 🏆⚽️👏

Jade-
Jade was fantastic throughout the game. She was always so calm and composed on the ball and communicated really well with her teammates.
She dealt with everything that came her way, showing great strength and determination. Her pace and ability to read the game made her a real handful, and she was dependable throughout, giving everything she had from the first whistle to the last.
A really strong performance and a well-deserved trophy.
