Tomorrow marks a truly incredible milestone for parkrun UK – the 1 millionth parkrun event! 🎉
As we celebrate this amazing achievement, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our fantastic volunteers and our dedicated core team. Week after week, you give your time, energy, and enthusiasm to make our parkrun such a welcoming and successful community event.
A special shout-out goes to Jamie Hill and Duncan Moore for their tireless work behind the scenes. From making sure we have enough volunteers every week to handling countless tasks that many never see, their commitment and dedication help keep everything running smoothly. We simply couldn’t do it without them.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, run, walked, jogged, cheered, supported, and been part of our parkrun journey. Here’s to celebrating 1 million events and many more to come! 💛🌳
Longrun Meadow parkrun – well more of a brisk walk for me!(Event #572) 😂🏃♂️
Courtesy of tourist Neil Peacey
What a breeze-tastic Saturday I had at Longrun Meadow! I travelled down from the Forest of Dean with my wife as a proper parkrun tourist, full of excitement… only for my dodgy MCL injury to ruin the fun and force me to walk the whole thing. Still made it round though – tourist points secured!
408 brave souls (including myself hobbling along) turned up for Event #572. The wind was either helping or gently mocking us all.
The big numbers:
40 first-timers – Welcome to the cult! We promise the post-run coffee makes the suffering worth it… eventually. 👋
42 PB smashers – Absolute machines. I was definitely not one of them this time.
We had runners from 28 different clubs, plus some proper milestone celebrations:
50 parkruns: Nick Berry, Carl Williams, Gareth Parsons & Jennifer King (halfway to legend status!)
100 parkruns: Victoria Evison & Sally German (parkrun royalty)
Georgina De Bie hit 25 volunteer credits – absolute MVP
First finishers (the speedy ones who made the rest of us look like we were running backwards):
Men: Michael Fry, Hayden Richardson-Miller, Anthony Kitson
Women: Sue Tinning, Sarah Capstick, Emma Davey
Massive respect to the 25 volunteers who kept everything running smoothly so the rest of us could enjoy our questionable life decisions. Huge cheers to everyone who turned up, flew round, got a shiny new PB, or just survived with some dignity left.
Even with the injury, it was a brilliant morning and luckily I made it around before the Tail walkers. You lot are legends. See you again in the future for more parkrun adventures (hopefully with a better knee next time and a possible PB)! 💨😅

"A Sea of ❤️ Red and White 🤍"
report by Isabelle Ashton
Longrun Meadow was buzzing this morning as 531 people ran, jogged and walked our beautiful course. Whether chasing a PB (against the advice of the run director 😜) enjoying a social run, or taking in the scenery, the field was full of energy from start to finish.
We were delighted to welcome 76 first timers, including visitors and brand‑new parkrunners taking their very first steps into the community. An impressive 50 participants recorded new Personal Bests in very warm weather conditions, helped along by plenty of encouragement around the course and the pacers for our pacer week.
How lucky are we in Taunton to have such a vibrant and varied running scene with clubs to suit different needs.
♾️ Today’s event was made extra special by a full volunteer takeover from Running Forever Running Club (RFRC).
Every marshal, scanner, timekeeper, and funnel volunteer was proudly wearing the club’s iconic red and white colours.
RFRC holds a special place in Taunton’s running history. Founded over 21 years ago, it was the first running club in the town and has grown into a welcoming, supportive community for runners of all abilities.
Many people still believe running clubs are only for fast or competitive runners, but RFRC proves the opposite. It is an inclusive club, offering beginner support for those taking their first steps, steady and social pace groups, trail running groups and even a dedicated walking group.
If today’s takeover inspired you, you can find out more about how to join on the RFRC website https://runningforever.club/ and discover what the club offers for every pace, every distance and every goal.
