What a weekend for Yardley Youth FC!
π Our U10s only went and WON the Cup Trophy at the Stony Stratford tournament today!
They finished 2nd in their group, battled through a nailβbiting semi-final against Old Bradwell (winning 3β2 on pens!), and then faced Houghton Athletic in the final - the same team who beat them 2β0 in their first match.
This time the boys came out fighting. A fantastic strike from Freddie put us 1β0 up, the defence held strong, and they didnβt concede a single goal against a very tough side. Absolute heroes.
π₯ And letβs not forget our U14s, who reached the final of their tournament yesterday! They won their semi-final on penalties and were so unlucky to lose 1β0 to MK Wanderers in the final. A brilliant effort from start to finish.
Both teams showed unbelievable determination, teamwork and spirit - especially in the scorching June heat. We are SO proud of you all. 𧑠π₯π

βοΈ KEEPING COOL ON THE PITCH | HEATWAVE SAFETY βοΈ
With the extreme heat hitting us this week, we want to make sure all our players, coaches, and spectators stay safe while enjoying their football.
In line with The FA and NHS warm weather guidelines, player welfare always comes first. If it's too hot for you watching from the sidelines, itβs definitely too hot for the players!
Here is what we are doing as a club, and how parents and players can help:
π§ Hydrate BEFORE You Arrive
Don't wait until you're thirsty to start drinking - that means you're already slightly dehydrated. Please make sure players are sipping water in the hours leading up to tournaments this weekend. Avoid sugary drinks as they can make dehydration worse.
β±οΈ Regular Cooling Breaks
Expect shorter, lower-intensity warm-ups and mandatory cooling breaks every 10β15 minutes.
𧴠Sunscreen & Kit
Please apply high-factor sunscreen before arriving at the ground.
π³ Seek the Shade
When players are rotating off as substitutes, they need to head straight into shaded rest areas to lower their core temperature.
β οΈ "If in doubt, STOP"
Children find it harder to regulate their body temperature than adults. If a player feels dizzy, weak, develops a headache, or feels sick, they must tell a coach immediately so we can get them into the shade to cool down. No match or training session is more important than health.
Thank you to all our amazing parents, volunteers, and coaches for helping us keep the kids safe while the sun is out! β½β€οΈπ₯

ππ¦ When it's far too hot for football, you adapt the game plan!
Instead of their usual training session today, our coaches gave our U8s the chance to "thank" them for a fantastic season...
Their chosen methods of appreciation? π€
π« Water guns
π Water balloons
𧽠Soaked sponges
Safe to say, the coaches massively underestimated just how grateful the players actually were! π
The results? Lots of laughter, non-stop smiles, and coaches running for cover!
What a perfect way to wrap up the season. These kids have worked incredibly hard all year, and seeing them having this much fun together is exactly what grassroots football is all about.

π Tournament season is well underway, and our teams have been absolutely brilliant throughout June! β½π§‘

β½οΈ MORE THAN JUST A FOOTBALL CLUB β URGENTLY SEEKING VOLUNTEERS!
Over the last six years, our grassroots club has grown from 2 teams to 6 (with plans for 8 next season!). But itβs about so much more than just the numbers.
Weβve had the absolute privilege of watching local children grow up into amazing young adults right before our eyes. We've seen kids start out as nervous beginners, stick with us for years, and now they are stepping up to referee matches for our younger teams! π
Itβs an incredible cycle of community, growth, and giving back - but to keep this environment alive for the next generation of local kids, we urgently need fresh support.
β οΈ CRITICAL ROLE: Volunteer Treasurer Needed β οΈ
Our amazing current Treasurer is stepping down after 6 brilliant years. To meet our governance obligations and keep running, we MUST have a Treasurer. Without someone in this role, the club is at real risk of being unable to continue.
β’ You do not need to be an accountant! You just need to be organised, trustworthy, and comfortable with numbers.
β’ Full support and a handover period will be provided. Youβll shadow our current Treasurer from June before officially taking over in September.
β’ Time commitment: Managing basic income/expenses, payments, and attending occasional committee meetings.
We know everyone is busy with work and family, but if you believe in keeping youth football alive and accessible in our community, we need you!
π
Come to our AGM & Get Involved!
Whether you want to step up as Treasurer or support the committee in another way, weβd love to welcome you.
