Beautifully said! Find joy in moving one moment at a time. Keep up the great work Nia UK # # #
When Nia was born in 1983, it was groundbreaking, revolutionary and controversial as one of the very first mind-body fusion fitness practices.
Committed to its mission and purpose for over 40 years, Nia has bucked the trend of “harder, faster, more” fitness while remaining a “hidden-gem” discovered by those courageous and curious souls who long for something different, deeper, more. You may be reading this now right now because you are one of those courageous and curious individuals.
As mind-body programs become mainstream, Nia continues as a leader in holistic fitness, wellness and lifestyle education, guiding people to become their best selves one dance, one class, one training at a time.
For a teacher, Nia provides a gentle supportive way to get started and an ongoing path towards personal growth, continued health improvements and the tools to heal when 'life happens' and injuries or illnesses crop up. *
The Nia Technique - the personal self-care practice through movement and awareness - starts with you.
-----🤔----
* If you'd like to know more about training as a Nia teacher -- get the knowledge now and let it 'percolate'.
👉You need no previous experience, no particular fitness level. Nia trains you from scratch. We have foundation retreat/courses 3-4 times a year in the UK and worldwide.

Nia is back! ✨
Monday 2pm at Wi******er Lido Sports Association
Tuesday 6pm online
Thursday 10am at the Gill Nethercott Centre in Whitchurch
If you enjoy yoga or Pilates and you dance round your kitchen/bedroom/garden at home you will probably love Nia. Great music, move your body’s way, tone muscles, make new neuropathways and find your inner child!
Feel you can’t dance? Feel you aren’t coordinated? Dislike “exercise”? Want to feel joyful, alive and buzzing? Give Nia a go. You will be very welcome.

It was our last Nia class for Whitchurch until September 5th this morning. Our usual beautiful venue the Gill Nethercott Centre was a Polling Station today so we went to my mum’s instead.
Thank you to Sue Brown and Sue Dorey for looking after us at the GNC and to the Whitchurch Silk Mill for our connecting coffee after class every Thursday.
See you in September!

Why is Nia usually danced in bare feet? In fact why is it good to take your shoes off as often as possible? This is what Debbie Rosas the founder of the Nia Technique has to say…
Feet never lie.
They’re wonderfully forthright and let us know instantly if something is wrong.
Through direct contact with the floor, our feet send us spontaneous, accurate readouts on the efficiency and safety of our movements.
This is why I remove my shoes whenever possible.

What do I wear in a Nia class?
No special clothing is necessary, something stretchy and in layers that you can take off as you warm up and… bare feet.
If you wear shoes make sure they are clean and have soft non marking soles.
Next week we will mostly be wearing bunny ears celebrating the Chinese spring festival, 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit!
We often get asked... "Why do I have to take off my shoes in a Nia class?"
First of all, there are no "have to's" in Nia. While Nia is classically practiced barefoot, if you want to leave your shoes on, go for it!
For those who choose to kick off their shoes, we practice barefoot as a way to stay aware of sensation and connected to our bodies.
There are 7,000 nerve endings on the bottom of each foot.
Practicing barefoot stimulates a physical and psychological sensation of being grounded making you deeply aware of each step.
