Under 14s Festival Round-Up 📸

A hugely successful week for the Under 14s saw them unbeaten after 3, losing out to league tippers Haywards Heath in their final game.

So many positives to take with Max Reidy’s maiden century, Elijah Hill’s gutsy match saving 48*, Annabel Chandler’s 5 wickets, Jude Ridsdale’s 4 wickets and so much more to be cheerful about.

As we close in on the end of the season, plenty to play for in the individual stakes too. Here’s who’s still in contention for senior league runs, wickets and fielding. Who’s going to take top spot come 5th September? 🤔

RESULTS | 8th & 9th August 🏏

Not a great weekend for the BCC, but we’ll be back.

🔵 1st XI lost by 3 wickets against Littlehampton. Patient batting from Les Wardé (51) held the innings together after we batted first and made 196-7 from our 45 overs. Despite Blanny battling away on one leg with the ball (4-38), we just didn’t have quite enough runs on the board to defend the total. 3 big games remaining as we look to avoid the drop from Div 4.

🔵 2nd XI won the toss and chose to bat as well. The Silverthorne opening partnership ended in disaster with Father and Son blaming each other for snr’s 1st over run out 🫣 And things didn’t get much better from there - the only shining light was other a 93-run partnership between Captain (71) and Vice Captain (46) as the 2s fell from 133-2, to 160 all out at Horsham. Never enough runs on a belting wicket, and the hosts chased the runs down with 7 wickets in hand.

🔵 3rd XI bowled first at Hill Barn and Ferring made 211-7 from their 40. Stand outs with the ball were Big Rin (3-43) and Captain Potts (2-28). A similar story for them with the bat again, as we were bowled out for 112.

⚪️ The Sunday Allstars battled hard with a against a strong Sea View Storm XI. Bowling the visitors out 236, thanks to a fantastic spell from Elliot Howes (3-49). Despite good contributions from Josh Blakey (39) and Craig Pulling/ Grant Mitchell/ Craig Stokes (46), we unfortunately fell short by 46 runs before retiring to the boozer where we performed admirably 👏

This week is the turn of the unbeaten Under 13s. Festival Week 2.0 🏆

After an incredible Under 14s festival last week, we now turn attention to our 13s, whose festival starts today! Head down to Broadwater White today to catch them face Ringmer CC. Here is how we lineup each day.

Announcing the first ever BCC Junior to make it on the Broadwater Honours Boards || Max Reidy 💯

This afternoon Max made the most incredible 123* (90) to start the Under 14s Festival Week.

Playing up an age group, he came in at 3 and smashed it to all parts, bringing up his Maiden Century (first of many) in stylish fashion, with a 4 off the legs. We are running out of words to describe Max, both on the field and off it, there is no doubt he is going to go on to incredible things.

It’s Sussex Festival Week for the Under 14s! 😍

Most of us look back on Festival Week with so much fondness. Our first proper experience of longer form cricket, a full week of playing with our mates. Sun shining. Memories made. This is that week for BCC Under 14s. Here is where we’re heading and our lineups for the week.

Broadwater CC | Under 13s Champions 🏆

An incredible achievement from our Under 13s this year to go unbeaten and win the league. It marks off a fantastic season and they go into the Under 13s Festival with spirits high.

Congratulations lads - the future is very bright.

🏆 Performances of the Week are back! W/c 13th July 2026

🔵 Club | Much to the surprise of many, the clubs most volatile pairing managed 30 overs of batting together without killing each other. Rob & Ryan, Father and Son, opened the batting for the 2s and put on a 197-run stand for the first wicket. Mr Chairman amassed an incredible 113, his first league hundred of the season and 10th for Broadwater. In doing so, the pair helped the 2s to an important win by 78 runs 💪

🔵 Juniors | u13s: Leo Whyatt for his 3-7 with the ball & Neo Williams for his 50*. U14s: Paice for his 2-10 with the new ball.

🟡 t20 Slam | Dave Hall for yet another retirement with the bat (about time he earned one of these!)
