Despite the rain today, the 2nd XI showcased not just what makes our club so special, but what makes cricket so special.

🇹🇹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇳🇯🇲🇵🇰 5 different nationalities all sharing some amazing food in the pavilion of the oldest cricket club around.

Amara and Arshad Mahmood cooking up some local grub (chicken biriyani, lamb curry, lovely salad and fruits too). Absolutely incredible and amazing moments shared under the roof of that historic old building. 🥘🍛🍚🍗

Thanks very much to the Mahmood’s. An incredible afternoon. Needless to say no nominations needed for Performance Of The Week this week! So good, Freddie and Maddy polished off a combined 7 portions.

🏆 Performances of the Week | w/c 25 May 2026

🔵 Club | King Jero again…! Thoroughly deserved, as he smashed 89 from just 61 deliveries to get us to over 250 against Crawley Eagles. Then tore through the Eagles batsmen with 5-49 with the ball. Huge effort and playing like a man desperate for the Chairman’s bonus 😉

🔵 Juniors | U13s: Finley Stevens for his determined batting. U12s: Frankie Wisdom for his 4-12 with the ball. U14s: Mahiraj Damania for his 21 with the bat and 1-6 with the ball.

🟡 t20 Slam | Craig and Scott Pulling (aka The Mitchell Brothers (official photos to come 🤣)
30* for Scott and that final over from Craig who finished with figures of 1-15. Hugely important efforts from the brothers as the Fire won by just 2 runs!

RESULTS | w/c 25 May 🏏

🔵 1st XI won by 75 runs against our friends from Crawley Eagles. Overseas Jero smashed 89 off just 66 balls and then followed that up with his first Broadie 5fer! Leading the way as we got the job done bowling Eagles out for 184 in reply to our 259.

🔵 2nd XI showcased why we love the game yesterday. Scoring 203 from 40 overs was solid, but they looked dead and buried as Tilgate sat at 184-2 from 28 overs. What followed was absolute carnage. Aamer brought back for his second spell took a 5fer as captain Bryan finished with 3 wickets and the scores level. A tie and real get out of jail 🤯

🔵 3rd XI | No game this week - back in action next weekend.

🟡 Slam XI won by 2 runs. It was getting nervy as Rustington crept towards the 143 target after Phil Mitchell (Scott Pulling)’s and Barney Spencer’s retirements. It went to the last over with Rustington needing 13 to win. Up stepped Phil’s brother Grant Mitchell (Craig Pulling), closing out in style and finishing his 3 overs with figures of 15-1 and securing the win for the Fire 🔥Also a special shoutout to young Charlie Biggs mixing it with adults and looking completely at home during his spell and with the bat.

⚪️ Juniors | The u13s lost to West Chiltington in their National Cup game. The under 12s beat Eastergate by 25 runs. And the under 14s lost by 7 wickets to Findon.

🔵 Club | Little Legs Les & One More Year Sully
Things looked promising as their partnership came to a close at 123 after 23 overs. Little Legs covering double the distance as Sully, he had to take a quick power nap in the dressing room after. Good knocks for each of them though (Sully: 72 from 66 & Les: 76 from 122) - positives to take.

🔵 t20 Slam | Chris Edwards
A great effort with the bat yet again from Ted last week, as he got to 30 at near enough a run a ball in our chase of 156.
