Self-care can mean so many different things to each of us.

For some, it is a walk in the woods. For others, it is meditation.
Maybe it is also a quiet cup of coffee, reading a book, spending time with people we love, or simply giving ourselves permission to slow down.

It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as it’s something that makes us feel good.

For me, the last couple of days have been pure self-care in the form of:
😊 Spending time with the two people I love the most
😊 Exploring a beautiful place called Nunnington Hall
😊 Sitting in the garden, reading another fantastic book by Matt Haig
😊 Catching up with a wonderful friend.

All of this was needed.
All of this filled my heart.
All of this is what I call self-care.

So, I would love to know…
What has your self-care looked like this weekend?

Tell me in the comments; big or small, I would love to hear about it. X

Today’s coaching session with a lovely client felt a bit like holding up a mirror as I have been exactly where she is now.

My client has been struggling with self-doubt about some of the decisions she has made recently, made even harder by discovering that people close to her had been talking behind her back about what she was doing.

Nobody offered support. Everyone had an opinion. Everyone knew better. Everyone would have done things differently.

All she really wanted was a little respect and to feel validated. A kind word would have gone a long way too.

It reminded me of all the sofa managers during the recent football World Cup. So many people ready to criticise, convinced they knew exactly what should have been done, without ever having to step onto the pitch themselves.

We spent a lot of time talking about how she can quieten the critical voice in her own head and stop giving so much power to the "know-it-all" voices around her.

By the end of our session, my client came to a simple but powerful realisation: the people laughing behind her back are not the people she wants to have around her anyway.

It was a reminder for both of us to look for the kind and genuine people. The ones who care. The ones who support you. The ones who can raise concerns with kindness rather than judgement. The ones who have your back, even when they don't always agree with your choices.

I have had to learn that lesson too; and not just once.

These days, I am much better at letting go of other people's opinions and reminding myself that I am who I am... and I am enough.

Maybe that's a reminder someone else needs today too. ❤️

Let me finish this week with a couple of beautiful pictures taken at Pool Bridge Farm, along with a little rant (not about Pool Bridge Farm)!

I absolutely loved spending time at “the ponds”; reading, talking to my daughter, swimming, enjoying life, and, most importantly, not feeling guilty about taking time out.
That bit is the important part of this post: not feeling guilty!

I have the advantage of only having to ask myself when I can go on holiday or take a day off, and I am very, very grateful for that. Trust me, I am!!!

Days like yesterday remind me of the importance of taking opportunities like this. Of allowing myself to be not busy. Of taking a step back, taking stock, and thinking about what is actually important to me and the way I choose to live my life.

And right now, days like yesterday are needed for my mental health.

Anyway, I also feel the need to add a couple of sentences about comments on The Dress, worn by an amazing woman who has suddenly found herself on the receiving end of some absolutely horrendous and nasty comments from all sorts of people.
You will know who and what I mean.

All I want to say is: shame on everyone who felt the need to comment in such a cruel and disgusting way.

Live your life. Let other people live theirs. And never, ever judge a person by the shape of their belly or any other part of their body. It says far more about you than it ever will about them.

Be kind. Be decent. Stop being shallow!
Rant over!
Comments appreciated! X

Today, Tropic Skincare launched a brand-new product called Lashful!

It is a product I am really excited about because my eyelashes have certainly not only become thinner over the years, but some have disappeared altogether too!

It often takes me a while to try new products because I have sensitive skin, but I started using Lashful four days ago and I am really impressed so far. It’s so easy to apply, there has been zero irritation, and I already think my lashes are looking better (although it does say to expect visible results after four weeks… so I will be keeping a close eye on them! 😂).

Lashful is ophthalmologist tested, free from hormone disruptors, and features a dual-action brush for 360° coverage. It also contains seven targeted actives to support each stage of the lash growth cycle.
The serum can also be used on sensitive eyes and by lash extension wearers who need a gentle conditioning formula.

I did take a ‘before’ photo, although it’s a pretty rubbish one 😂. I can’t wait to compare it with another photo in a few weeks and see if I can spot a difference!

If you have any questions, please just get in touch. Honestly, I think this is a fabulous one… (but then again, I do say that about all the launches! 😂).

And if you live in York, you are always welcome to pop in and have a look, a smell and a try of all the Tropic Skincare products I have in stock. 💚
