Silence is not the absence of sound,
It’s the absence of resistance.
Silence is when we stop resisting life.
We stop resisting the here and now.
We stop resisting what shows up for us,
which may be uncomfortable, scary, or sad.
The moment you stop doing…
what you’ve been avoiding starts to arise.
And this is what most of us do,
we resist silence and we resist ourselves.
We become human doings rather than human beings.
Afraid to sit still, to be, to observe what arises.
So silence is not just the absence of sound,
but the absence of resisting reality,
resisting what is, resisting life in this moment.
And this moment may be uncomfortable.
That’s why we resist it.
That’s why we are afraid of silence.
Because silence reveals.
Silence reveals the truth of this moment.
And when we stop pushing away what is here,
the mind, over time and with practice, settles…
and silence reveals itself.
