Allenton Club Day

Allenton Rugby Club celebrated its club day on Saturday 13 June, bringing together players, supporters, volunteers and families for a day that highlighted the clubโ€™s pride, tradition and depth across the grades.

The morning programme featured rippa and junior tackle action, with the next generation pulling on the Gold and Maroon and setting the tone with strong turnout and enthusiasm. The afternoon built nicely into Colts and Senior fixtures, drawing a strong home crowd and creating a great atmosphere at the Melrose Road ground.

A well-supported and well-run day, it was a fitting showcase of the strength of the Allenton club and the people who continue to drive it forward.

Congratulations to Grace George, named Sideline Supporter of the Day and awarded a Black & White Coffee Cartel Ashburton โ€” a great reward for someone bringing energy and support from the sidelines.

Senior Draw - Week 14

It's finals weekend for the respective Combined Men's & Women's competitions, unfortunately no Mid Canterbury sides are featured, we don't care we'd rather focus on local footy anyway.

Senior B rolls on with Round 8 of the Centennial Mug, highlighted by a top-of-the-table clash between Mt Somers Rfc and Hampstead Rugby Club. With the Bruce Beckley Challenge Trophy on the line, this one shapes as a genuine contest between two in-form sides

In the Colts grade, competition leaders Allenton Rugby Club hit the road to Oxford, aiming to extend their unbeaten run. while Methven Rugby NZ also travel, taking on Ashley at Loburn with plenty at stake โ€“ a bonus point win over fourth-placed Ashley could see them break into the top four.

As always, support your team, keep it positive, and enjoy some community rugby this weekend.

At last night's 98th AGM for Mid Canterbury Rugby, we ended the evening with the opportunity to celebrate the awarded Life Membership of the union for Ged Rushton.
A long serving member of the rugby community in Mid Canterbury, Ged has not only played for Mayfield Rugby Club but also held positions of office across both the club and union landscape. Serving at Southern Rugby Club and also time involved engaging with New Zealand Rugby on behalf of Heartland Rugby, Ged has been instrumental in ensuring the Heartland's have a voice at the very top of our game.
A passionate supporter of rugby Ged reflected that one of the main highlights for him across all his years in the game is "the enjoyment that the kids and young players get from playing rugby" and seeing the joy that rugby brings to communities.
Ged is a worthy recipient of Life Membership, and we congratulate Ged on his recognition. Special Mention to Claire his lovely wife who has supported Ged through the time he has given to rugby and the times it has taken him away from his family, Claire we thank you.
Congratulations Ged Rushton!

Senior Results

Allenton Rugby Club marked their club day in style on Saturday, celebrating strong wins through their Senior Bโ€™s and Colts grades in front of a lively home crowd. It was a fitting occasion and a great showcase of the clubโ€™s community spirit.

Friday night delivered heartbreak for our Women in their respective combined competition semi-finals. Despite the disappointment, full credit goes to all players and staff for outstanding campaigns, reaching the final four is a significant achievement, and attention now shifts to the Mid Canterbury competition.
