The Final Round Epic!

The final round of the Carpet Bowls Trophy delivered a masterclass in precision, nerves of steel, and heart-stopping competition! It all came down to the wire in an absolute thriller of a finish.
- The Podium Battle: Locking in a phenomenal 3rd place finish, Murray and Trish put on an absolute clinic, fighting through the field to secure 2 wins and prove they are a force to be reckoned with.
- The Photo Finish: The battle for the top spots was a masterclass in elite strategy, decided by the slimmest of margins! Fig and Benny put on a spectacular display, storming into 2nd place with an incredible 3 wins and 15 ends.
- The Round Champions: Just edging them out in a breath-taking finish, Joc & Mike captured 1st place for the round, matching the 3 wins but clinical precision gave them 16 ends to claim the top spot!

- THE ULTIMATE VICTORIOUS DUO: When the dust settled and the final scores were tallied across the entire tournament, two names stood alone at the peak of glory. Massive congratulations to our Overall Trophy Winners—Tony and Seddon! They championed the pressure, mastered the greens, and etched their names into tournament history!

A massive thanks to all the club members who run the events over the weeks, to the all the kitchen helpers & co & to the ever amazing Bar staff for keeping everyone hydrated.

A huge thank you to our fantastic greens staff for the excellent playing surfaces yesterday, and to Wendy for providing a wonderful lunch and afternoon tea!

It was another brilliant afternoon of bowls, featuring some incredibly tight competition with four teams securing three wins each.

2nd Place: Gary Hildyard, Michael Shatford, and Stu Blake (3 wins, 16 ends, 32 points)

3rd Place: Roger Glendinning, Linda Gallagher, and Nigel from Geraldine (3 wins, 11 ends, 31 points)

4th Place: Linton Muir, Kath Muir, and Skip Muir (3 wins, 11 ends, 27 points)

What a brilliant day had last Monday!
Mother Nature turned on some beautiful weather, the green was packed, and the atmosphere was full of fun and friendly competition.

A massive thank you goes out to everyone who chipped in before, during, and after the event to make it run so smoothly and help tidy away. Our sincere gratitude also goes to our greens staff, who always have the terrain in pristine condition for us.

Trevor Johnson’s Trio Triumphs In Tight Hunt Trophy Round
No team managed a clean sweep of three wins during the sixth round of the Hunt Trophy, played in highly competitive spirits on Friday, 17 July 2026.

Instead, the podium positions were decided on a close countback of ends and total points after three teams finished the day with identical records of two wins and one draw.
Taking the top spot on the podium was the skip combination of Trevor Johnson, Rose Johnston, and Tony Inwood.

The trio secured 1st place by dominating the scoreboard, racking up 15 ends and a massive 32 points.

Second place went to the team of Ron Hazeldine, Mike Grice, and Neil Atkinson.

They matched the winners with 15 ends but had to settle for the runner-up spot with 24 points.
Rounding out the top three was the team of Di Callaghan, Benny Hill, and Brent Mayson.
They also pushed the leaders hard, accumulating an impressive 32 points but falling just one end short of the top two teams to finish 3rd with 14 ends.

Thanks to the event clerks for their graft, catering & bar which combined made for a wonderful day.

Subject: Mandatory Transition to Official Club Uniform for 2026–27 Season

Please be advised that effective 1 September 2026, coinciding with the commencement of the 2026–27 bowls season, the Maroon & Gold Dynasty uniform is designated as the sole official uniform of the Allenton Bowling Club.

Following a phased three-season rollout, this regulation standardises our club representation. Members are required to wear this specific uniform during all official play, except on designated occasions where m***i is explicitly permitted.

The Executive Committee appreciates your cooperation and adherence to these standards as we enter the new season.

Should you require clarification regarding these requirements, please direct your inquiries to Club President Joc O’Connor or any member of the Executive Committee.

These positions are the backbone of our representative success & Mid Canterbury are looking for there representatives to managed by the right selectors.

Selectors do far more than just pick a team—they build culture, foster talent, and ensure our proud legacy continues in Canterbury Country Bowls & too continue to thrive we need dedicated individuals in these roles or our competition simply cannot run.
