🏸 Friday Night Juniors – Come Along and Have a Hit! 🏸
Looking for something fun for the kids on a Friday night? Bring them along to our Friday Night Juniors sessions! 5.30-6.30 Fridays during term time.
These relaxed sessions are perfect for first-timers, beginners, and more experienced players, aimed at age range 5-13. The focus is simple – fun, games, and getting a hit in!
✅ Run by Badminton Otago coaches and senior junior players
✅ Not a formal coaching session – just a great chance to play
✅ Parents, caregivers, and family members are welcome to join in too!
💲 Cost: $2 per child or $5 per family (cash), per Friday.

Congratulations to Otago 1 on finishing 5th in the 2026 Slazenger Cup!
The team showed outstanding spirit, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the competition, and we are incredibly proud of everyone involved. Several matches were closely contested, with placings from 3rd to 5th decided by the narrowest of margins — a fantastic effort all round.

A tough tie first up for Otago 1 in the qualification round of the national teams champs, losing 12-0 to Counties Manukau 1, but plenty of great rallies and well played team :) Otago 1 are now into the Slazenger Cup section, starting this afternoon. NZ's premier badminton team competition, the Wisden and Slazenger Cup, starts tomorrow (June 4) in Waitakere and our top senior team, Otago 1, will be competing. Good luck team!!!! With the re-opening of the OBC - Friday junior hits are back! Starting from Friday 5 June, 5.30-6.30pm, at the OBC, 101 Victoria Rd, St Kilda. $5 per child per night, cash on the night. No commitment to multiple weeks and rsvp not required, just come on the day. First timers and beginners welcome, age range approx. 5-14. EXCITING NEWS!!!! We are gearing up to partially re-open the Otago badminton Centre!
We have walled off the area under the damaged roof and have been, and will continue to, carry out regular reassurance air testing. We will have courts 1-2, 6-8 running. There is a covered walkway through to courts 6-8. This is an interim measure while we work towards a full repair.
Next week, starting Wed 20 and Thurs 21 May, we are running our games nights at the OBC. Sign up links below. We will be opening for public court bookings in around 1.5 weeks time, stay tuned for more info about this soon.
