UPDATE: TRAIL ALERT: Water Ride | Hawke’s Bay Airport

Changes to dates, from Thurs 8th-Fri 16th Oct. NOTE: 2x short one way scaffold bridges are required, prepare to stop and please give way to those already on the bridge. If not confident riding please get off and walk.

A short section of the Water Ride near Hawke’s Bay Airport will be closed while the airport carries out maintenance work.

A short, marked detour will be in place, so follow the signs and take care.

A big thanks to the airport team for helping to keep the disruption to a minimum and avoiding a full trail closure.

So apparently we do pie's better than Australia, and I have agree and say the pies from Waipiata Pub are out the gate. Where would you recommend these school holidays, to visitors on Hawke's Bay Trails? What's your favourite spot and 'must have's' on the local menus?

I ask if there’s a good place to get a pie around here. The answer is far more detailed than I expected.

TRAIL ALERT: Water Ride, section from Awatoto to Brookfields CLOSED
HBRC has a stopbank being upgraded and it's closed to public while work is in progress, as it's an active construction site. Construction traffic will be accessing the site via Brookfields Road. Due to this, the detour being used is the same as earlier in the year with the Kiwirail project.
The detour (safest) is via Johns Road and the Napier iWay route to Marine Parade, and detour signage is in place along this route.
Please respect all detours and signage and take care when crossing roads. The closure will be in place from the week beginning Monday 21 September until April 2027.
DO NOT enter closed sections - doing so puts both yourself and staff at risk, may interfere with important construction activities, and could contribute to project delays. Thank you for your cooperation.

Nothing beats being seated amongst the vines on a sunny day, sipping away on a local w**e 🥂

All the while, your bike is safe and secure thanks to Locky Docks 🔐The bike parking and charging station that was installed earlier this year, and allows users to lock their bikes with a simple swipe. E-bike users who bring their own charger can also pop their bikes on charge, so your bike is ready for the ride home!

Time for a shout-out to one of our longest-standing supporters of the trails and one of the most popular destinations on the Landscapes Ride, out on the Cape Coast in Te Awanga.
