Results are in for the Osmond Shield at the Wright Cup. These are the premier Wellington Smallbore R***e Association inter-club matches. Only Brooklyn and Wellington Central were able to field teams this year.
Osmond Shield is shot by 8 person teams, 4 of which must be B grade or below.
Wright Cup is shot by teams of 5 or 6 C and D graders. The top 5 scores count. All shooters shoot in seeded order.
In the Osmond Shield the lead changed several times during the match. Brooklyn came out victorious.
The Wright Cup was a clearer win for Brooklyn. The Brooklyn juniors shot superbly, shooting 476.18, only one point below the record. They're already planning how they'll get the record next year.

Rob Taylor has been crowned North Island Open champ, shooting 200.13 in the final to overtake Martin Hunt and The Other R Taylor (Ryan) for the win. Well done Rob! Pippa Taylor was 3rd after the final, and won both the Junior and the Ladies trophies.
In the other grades, Max Parsons won D grade then re-entered into C and came 2nd there. Anaci du Plessis came 2nd in B grade and was relegated to 2nd on countback in the B grade final.

The usual suspects from Ngaio R***e Club went to the Westmere Open yesterday, with Max Parsons taking out D grade, then C grade on re-entry, and Hester Du Plessis coming 3rd in B grade. Seems like they'll both be going up a grade or two next year! Well done guys.

Final round of the Interclub competition for 2026 was shot tonight.
The c grade teams from Wellington Central and Brooklyn draw, with 375.9 and one set of bonus points each. Overall winners across the 6 rounds are Wellington Central, 21 points to Brooklyn’s 16.
Ngaio R***e Club had a solid win over Wellington Central in the B grade, with a season high score of 390.17. Ngaio has taken the overall win in B.
In the Open, Brooklyn was victorious over Ngaio and South Wellington Smallbore R***e Club beat Wellington Central. Brooklyn took the overall win.
Congrats to Filly, Ravi, Max and Bex Baines for their bonus points.
Wellington Interclub winners will shoot against Hutt Valley interclub winners in a few weeks.

Today we hosted the Triangular secondary schools match, where the top Wellington shots from the two inter secondary schools matches (9 and 23 August) formed a Wellington team to compete against Hutt Valley and Manawatu teams.
This year, for the first time since 2016, Hutt Valley won the match. Well done that team!
Congrats to everyone who shot PBs (or better than they expected). Thanks to all the coaches and other support staff who make these events happen.

We've done it!

Tonight, for the first time, Wellington has won the top division in the NDC. Fantastic result given it was only two years ago that we got into the top division - but fully on par with how we've been shooting this year.
Shot of the day goes to Pippa for her 9. She wasn't sure she was aiming at the right diagram, so looked through her scope to check. Her finger took the shot and she watched the 9 appear on her target. Phew.
Thank you to Marlborough for providing a stiff competition right to the end.
Congrats to Pippa Taylor for her 100, and to Brad Palatchie from Marlborough for a fantastic 300.
Massive thanks to the non-shooters Dave Rew and Uncle Paul Breen who turn up every round to prepare targets (Dave) and act as range officer (Paul). Thanks also to Alison Fursdon who organises this match, and to our selectors Bex Baines and Mark Baines who seem to be doing a pretty good job.
