Well done Ryan Taylor for winning the Wairarapa Champs

It was a windy drive over the Remutaka Range today for those of us going to the Wairarapa Open at Martinborough. I think we're all glad we were shooting inside today!
Max Parsons (Ngaio) shot a very tidy 292.15 to win D grade.
Bronwyn Shields (Wellington Central) came 2nd in C grade with 279.8.
In the B the Du Plessises (Ngaio) had to contend with 2nd and 3rd, despite posting solid scores - 296.20 for Anaci du Plessis and 295.18 for Hester. Nice shooting from Hugo Smith from the Hutt Valley to beat those two.
Anna Shum Pearce (South Wellington Smallbore Rifle Club) dominated with a string of 99s in A grade, winning with 297.18.
Master grade was a tough fight, with three on 299. Best from Wellington was Rob Taylor (South Wellington) on 298.18, closely followed by Neil Kinsey (Wellington Central) and Pippa Taylor (South Wellington) both on 297.17, with Neil ahead on countback.
Final results to come.

A lighter set of results for Wellington at today's Southern Hawkes Bay champs. Congrats to Anna Shum Pearce who came 2nd in A grade, and Hester du Plessis for her 2nd in B grade.

We've shot round 2 of the Interclub tonight.
The Brooklyn C grade team had a narrow win over Wellington Central. Not bad for a young team (Brooklyn’s oldest is about half the age of Central's youngest)!
It was another close match in B grade, with Ngaio Rifle Club taking a narrow win over Brooklyn (not helped by Brooklyn’s two crossfires). Bonus points for Anaci du Plessis for her 100.2 and to Finn Ashby for his 99.4.
Very mixed results for the Open grade. Brooklyn beat a 3-person South Wellington Smallbore Rifle Club team (who were further handicapped with one crossfire) and Central beat a Ngaio that was shooting without Gabi Hemsley and Hester do Plessis. Nice shooting from D grader Emma Dagger with a 192.4

Good numbers today at the Hutt Valley Open. This is the first of six Wellington Provincial Champs. We had a good turn out from Wellington, with some great results.
D grade - Max Parsons (Ngaio) came 2nd and Emma Dagger (Ngaio) 4th.
C grade - Rob Grant (Brooklyn) 1st. Rob shot his first 100 on the way. Filly Cornejo (Brooklyn) came 2nd and Eli Benison (Brooklyn) 4th.
B grade - Hester du Plessis cleaned up with 298.22 to win B grade, closely followed by her mother Anaci du Plessis.
A grade - Anna Shum Pearce (South Wellington) came 3rd
Master - Pippa Taylor (South Wellington) came 2nd.
Top lady - Pippa Taylor
Lots of Wellington shooters made it into the Open final and the B-C-D final - Pippa, Hester, Stephen Thessman (Brooklyn), Rob Taylor (South Wellington), Meredith Ackrill (Brooklyn) in the Open, and Hester, Anaci, Rob Grant and Gerard O'Flynn in the B-C-D.
Not to be left out, David Grain won the raffle.

We've shot round 3 of the NDC, this time against Eastern Force (a combined team featuring Wairarapa, Southern Hawkes Bay and Hawkes Bay). We managed wins in the Open and Juniors but didn't take out the Composite. Bit hard to get all 3 against such strong competition!
Mark Baines' 95.5 had us asking if we could have Number 1 Baines (Bex) back in the team, but he pulled it back with a 200.10 for a bonus point. Congrats also to Hester du Plessis for her 100.5 in the Juniors, getting us another bonus point.
On the other side, huge congratulations 🎊 to Craig Ireland from Wairarapa who shot the first 200.20 we can remember on these targets - woohoo!

Results are in for the Hastings Open. In the interests of getting some of our weekend back, there is no final today.

EDIT: have added the scoeres from the final.
Here's the results from the Hawkes Bay Open, shot in Hastings today.
Three Wellington Smallbore Rifle Association shooters made the trip north. Anaci du Plessis took advantage of Hester doing the Relay for Life today by leaving the kids at home and nipping up north for a weekend shooting, with Deon accompanying. She shot 291.15 to take 2nd place in a slim B grade match
Meredith Ackrill and Edwin Bode also took the weekend away, with Meredith having better luck behind the rifle than Edwin on Saturday. Meredith at least made it into the final 10.
Huge congrats to Teddy Lange (not Wellington) for shooting a PB to win the final. Well done Teddy!
Good luck everyone for the Hastings Open tomorrow.

We had a good night today shooting the first of six rounds of Interclub.
The C graders were first up, with a very junior Brooklyn team being edged out by Wellington Central, 372.7 to 375.6.
The B graders were up next which saw Wellington Central again beating Brooklyn, 384.14 to 378.11. Ngaio Rifle Club had a bye this week.
The Open graders rounded out the evening, with two matches - South Wellington Smallbore Rifle Club beat Ngaio by five inners, and Brooklyn got its revenge with a 10 point win against Wellington Central.
Congrats to Max Parsons from Ngaio who shot his first 100 as part of his first ever 20! Congrats 👏 Max!

Results are in from the Poroutawhao Open, shot yesterday and today.
In the D grade Max Parsons (Ngaio) came first. He then tried his luck with a re-entry in C grade, shot 1 inner less and came 1st on countback!
In the B Anaci du Plessis came 1st.
Anna Shum Pearce (South Wellington) shot well in A grade to come 3rd.
The usual suspects fought it out in Master grade, with Pippa Taylor (South Wellington) in second place on 298.22, Bex Baines (Brooklyn) in 3rd on 298.18 and Rob Taylor (South Wellington) in 4th with 298.14 (bit light on the inners there Rob!). Those three shot in the final along with Anna SP and Mark Baines (Brooklyn), which was taken out by The Other R Taylor (Ryan Taylor) on aggregate.
