El Clasico

Last night was something special.

The main event was the Wellington United El Clasico under the lights between the Opals and the Emeralds, but the night ended up being about much more than the game.

It was about the club coming together. Friends, family, players, coaches, volunteers and supporters all turned up to be part of it. Some were on the pitch, some were on the sideline, and some were just there to cheer, but everyone added to what made the night feel so special.

That is what makes Wellington United what it is. It is the people who show up, help out, support each other and give their time because they care about the club.

The game itself was hotly contested, with both teams giving everything. It was a true game of two halves and finished in a fitting 1-1 draw. But the best part came after the final whistle, when both teams came together to celebrate the game, each other and the club.

Nights like these are a reminder of what has always been at the heart of Wellington United.
