Open Source BJJ won Best Overall Academy + Best Adult Academy! Amazing job today at the Asheville Newbreed tournament!

🏅 To our competitors: we are so proud of you! Every one of you trained hard and gave it your all out there. Your sportsmanship was impeccable and together, y'all won Open Source BJJ the top spot of Best Overall Team and Best Adult team for the entire tournament!

🦸 To our coaches: y'all are amazing. Being at the beck and call of 20+ teammates on seven mats and making sure each and every one of them had a coach supporting them is superstar-level work. 🙏 

👏 To our teammates: all of you who showed up today to support and cheer on our competitors - it means so much more than you realize! Thank you also to ALL our teammates who helped prepare our competitors for tough matches!

🤸 To parents: thanks for chauffeuring your kids to and from practice, and raising wonderful tiny fighters. We are so proud of all the work they put in, and all the work YOU put in to make that possible. 

Grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Asheville BJJ community and get to spend the day wrastlin' around and hanging out with a bunch of cool people. 

P.S. We are just awful at getting folks together for team pictures...missing at least half the team 🤦‍♀️. Also apologies to the adults for getting zero action shots!

IBJJF Pans in Florida is a wrap! 

Had a family trip planned in Orlando for that weekend and figured, heck, why not also sign up for a big ol' tournament?

I was thrilled to place 3rd in my division and also to have my parents and BFF drive up to cheer me on. 😊 

Bobby was less thrilled to get bumped out of the bracket with his first round, but after a year of recovering from 2 major surgeries, it might take a few competitions to knock the rust off. 

We are so very grateful for amazing teammates who helped us prepare and awesome BJJ friends who helped coach and support at the tournament (including loaning me pants when mine didn't pass the gi-checker!). 

Now it's back to the mats and back to work!

How proud are we of our competitors? Pretty dang proud.

Four out of eight Open Source BJJ teammates were first-time competitors at the Fuji Spartanburg tournament and they did great! 

Love seeing our teammates get out there, challenge themselves, and push past all the things that are hard about competing. Y'all showed off some impressive jiu-jitsu, inspiring grit, and true sportsmanship. 🫶

Grateful to have wonderful coaches supporting them along the way!
