Speed and athletic development don’t start in high school.

The foundation is built much earlier.

Young athletes need opportunities to sprint, jump, throw, climb, push, pull, and learn how to control their body.

As they get older, the training should progress with them.

More structure.
More strength.
More force production.
More speed.

But the basics still matter.

One of the biggest mistakes we see is waiting too long to teach athletes how to move fast and produce force—or going the other direction and making training too complicated too early.

Good youth sports performance training should match the athlete’s age, maturity, training history, and ability.
It should also be measurable.

At OC Sports Performance, we track sprint speed, jumping, strength, and other performance markers so we know whether the training is actually working.

Because if you’re not testing, you’re guessing.

Save this for the parent or coach who wants to understand how young athletes should actually be developed.

The right training environment can change how an athlete develops.

College football player Cutler shares why he chose OC Sports Performance over other gyms.

For him, it came down to the coaching.

The encouragement.
The accountability.
The expectation to keep getting better.

And a program built around the qualities that actually carry over to the field: speed, strength, power, and athleticism.

That means sprinting with intent.
Getting stronger over time.
Developing more force and explosiveness.

And having coaches who know when to push, when to adjust, and how to keep athletes moving forward.

Build better athletes.

A great next step for a great kid.

Zach was looking for a school where he could earn his engineering degree and keep play baseball, and we’re stoked he found that fit at Lawrence Tech in Michigan.

Inside the gym, Zach has always been one of those athletes who just works.

Consistent. Coachable. Competitive.

He’s also put up some pretty serious numbers along the way, including a 40-inch standing vertical jump.

That kind of explosiveness doesn’t happen by accident.

It comes from years of strength training, sprinting, jumping, and putting quality work in week after week.

That’s what sports performance training is really about.
Build strength. Build power. Improve athleticism. Then give those qualities time to develop.

We’re excited to see what Zach does next, both in baseball and in the classroom!

Gavin has been training with us at OC Sports Performance since middle school, and it’s been pretty awesome to watch him grow up in the gym.

Over the years, we’ve seen him get stronger, more confident, more mature, and continue to improve as an athlete.

This summer we got to watch him pitch right here in Bend for the Elks, and this spring he’ll head to Pitt State to continue his baseball career.

These are the stories we love. Years of showing up, putting in the work, and sticking with the process.

We’re excited to keep following Gavin and see what he does at the next level.

Sports don’t just test how strong you are. They test how prepared you are.

College football athlete Marco has put in the work at OC, and one of the biggest things he took with him to college wasn’t just more strength, speed, or power.

It was confidence.

Knowing you’ve trained hard. Knowing you can handle difficult situations. Knowing how to show up, compete, and keep working when things get uncomfortable.

That’s a big part of the mental game in sports.

For us, mental toughness isn’t built by running athletes into the ground.

It comes from preparation. Consistency. Clear expectations. Learning how to compete. And seeing your numbers improve because you earned it.

The physical side matters too.

Our  strength and conditioning program develops strength, speed, explosiveness, and athleticism while teaching athletes how to train with purpose.

We want our athletes physically and mentally prepared for whatever their next challenge is or whatever goals they have set out to achieve.
