I am working hard to get back to being in the best shape of my life. I had a baby two years ago and while I’m not in terrible shape, I do have a solid amount of body fat to lose. This is what I am doing to help cut that body fat and this is what I’d have my nutrition coaching clients who have goals of body fat loss do.
1: Switch to lower fat meats. There’s no reason to spend this limited macronutrient on meat. Let’s use it for nuts, guacamole, and a little bit of cheese.
This means swapping ground turkey for ground turkey breast. Chicken thighs for chicken breasts.
2: The same idea comes into play for cottage cheese. This protein packed dairy snack is available in 4% and 2% so opt for the 2% if you can.
3: Sugar isn’t an enemy but our body can store it as fat if we don’t consume fiber right along with it to help us to digest it properly. We should swap juices that lack fiber for whole fruits as those contain the necessary dietary fiber.

If you’re curious about my plan to lose at least 2% body fat in the next 35 days, this is one of the many things I’ll be doing. My goal is to get to once a week for a 12 min sauna, 2 minute ice bath, 12 min sauna, 2 minute ice bath, 15 minute sauna session once a week. I have a lot of inflammation especially in my legs I’m assuming from all of my running, and I can tell you I sleep so much better at least 4 days in a row after doing the one 60 minute session.
If you’ve never done it before, it’s not easy. But it’s definitely worth it. Plus it’s great for boosting your metabolism and helping to improve your blood flow and cardiovascular recovery. A win win for this goal of mine.
My goal is to post each day during this journey letting you know what I’m doing and how it’s going. The whole goal is to jump into marathon training for the a little leaner, a little healthier, and a bit more disciplined.

🙌🏼Holy hard work Batman!! Almost a PR!!! Definitely a post pregnancy PR!!!! Only one asthma attack today (I say only since during Sunday’s race, I had two.)

✨Last Saturday ran the Bohicket Half Marathon while I pushed Mac in the 5k. The race was beautiful and so much fun!
🥉I placed third in my age group while pushing Mac!
💙It was so great hanging with everyone after and getting to spend the morning doing everything we love. (I loved watching Malcolm and Roscoe play!)
