SPOILERS 🚨‼️🔔

I just finished Score by Kennedy Ryan, the second book in the Hollywood Renaissance series, and whew… I might need to take a day off from reading because this book was just THAT good.

At its core, this is a beautiful second-chance love story, but it’s so much deeper than romance. Kennedy Ryan handled mental health with so much care through Verity’s journey with Bipolar I disorder. Watching her struggle with the belief that she wasn’t worthy of lasting love because of her diagnosis and because of what she witnessed growing up completely broke my heart.

Then there’s Monk. Sweet, patient, talented Monk. A man carrying his own trust issues from his parents’ relationship, yet still capable of loving Verity so deeply. Even before he knew about her diagnosis, he loved her. Even after heartbreak, he loved her. From a distance, from the shadows, afraid of being hurt again, but loving her all the same.

College-era Verity made mistakes, but she was also a young woman who wasn’t properly diagnosed and didn’t fully understand what she was experiencing. Watching her and Monk find their way back to each other through Dessi Blue, confront the past, heal old wounds, and slowly learn to trust again was everything.

And can we talk about Black love for a second? Because this book gave me exactly what I needed. A Black man loving a Black woman out loud, with patience, grace, understanding, and intention. Monk being a musical genius, a God-fearing man, and someone willing to meet Verity where she was emotionally? My heart couldn’t take it.

These two artistic souls completely won me over.

Without a doubt, Score is one of my favorite books of 2026 so far. The perfect story. The perfect growth. The perfect ending.

Now excuse me while I sit here and miss these characters for the next few days

This past week was GOOD for my mind, body & soul 🥹💚

For the first time in a longggg time, I got in a FULL week of workouts and honestly… I’m proud of myself. Consistency has felt so much better lately.

I also signed up for swimming lessons that start in 3 weeks (don’t judge me 😂🥹 better late than never lol), finally got a library card again which felt oddly therapeutic, and got to reconnect with mi migos after missing them real bad. We laughed, cut up, ate good, and just enjoyed life for a bit 🫶🏽

One of the highlights of my week was meeting one of my FAVORITE authors, Kennedy Ryan, and connecting with so many amazing Black women in the book community. That room was full of joy, love, laughter, and good energy 🩷

Nutrition-wise, we’re still limiting bread to once a week and honestly it’s been going really well. Small changes add up.

Going into June, I really want to sign up for a weekly hot yoga class because sometimes traditional workouts get boring and you gotta switch it up a little 😂 excited for this next month and everything that comes with it.

But first… let’s finish May STRONG 💪🏾

Monday Fact of the Day 💡

Don’t let the word “diet” fool you 👀
A lot of diet sodas contain aspartame, an artificial sweetener that cuts calories, but may increase cravings and keep you wanting more.

It’s approved, yes… but still debated. So just because it’s “low calorie” doesn’t mean it’s helping your overall health.

👉🏾 Bottom line:
Diet soda ≠ health
Water, whole foods, and balance will always win 💯

New week. Better choices. Let’s lock in 🔒

Back still giving me trouble, but I’ve got an appointment with a back specialist this week to finally see what’s going on 🙏🏾

In the meantime, this is your reminder that progress doesn’t stop just because your workouts look different. When we can’t train how we want, we tighten up where we can control things—nutrition and water intake 💧

Stay consistent with what you CAN do:
• Fuel your body right
• Hit your water goals
• Keep showing up in small ways

We’re still working toward that weight loss and toning goal, no matter what 👏🏾

Praying for answers this week and some real relief soon. Let’s finish April strong and with a bang 💥

No waiting for motivation, we moving with discipline all week.

Get up. Get moving. Get fit.
Small steps today = big results later.

Let’s set the tone for the week and stay consistent 👏🏾
