It was a beautiful morning for Birds on Bikes! We started out a little foggy, but the birds showed up once the sun came out and warmed things up 🌞

We hit a new record this morning with a whopping 36 SPECIES OF BIRDS! We also saw an alligator, a swamp rabbit, and a lot of deer 🐦 🐊 🐇 🦌 🚲

Thanks to everyone who joined, and we will continue hosting these throughout the fall and winter. We are so happy yall enjoy these rides, and it’s so fun to see people exploring a new area or trying a new hobby on their bikes 😌

Registration is live for the next BIRDS ON BIKES happening on September 26!

Sunset Bicycles wants people to have fun riding bikes, and Alabama Audubon wants people to have fun while bird watching…so we are teaming up to get more people to have fun bird watching WHILE riding bikes!

Bicycle suitable for flat or undulating gravel and helmet required. Binoculars encouraged. New birders welcome!! 🐤

Today’s Birds on Bikes ride covered 10 miles around Wheeler Wildlife Refuge and we started by hearing a large pack of coyotes! We saw 28 species of birds including common gallinules, belted kingfishers, pied-billed grebes, wood ducks, blue wing teals, kestrels, and more! We ended the day with a bonus alligator 🐊
