Jumping probably isn’t the first thing most people think about when they join our gym.

But there’s a reason we include it.

First, bones need stress. Just like muscles, bones respond to the demands we place on them. Impact exercises like jumping can help support bone density as we age.

Second, we don’t want to become stiff and rigid. We want to stay springy, confident, and capable in our everyday lives. This isn’t automatic. We have to practice it.

And if you’re thinking, “I can’t jump anymore,” that’s okay. Many people haven’t jumped in years.

That’s why we start small.

For some people, it’s a tiny hop. For others, it’s simply learning how to land well. Over time, we build confidence, coordination, and resilience.

It’s also common for women to worry about leaking urine when they jump. If jumping causes leakage, that doesn’t mean you should avoid it forever. It usually means you need an appropriate starting point and progression. Start with small hops and progress gradually.

Jumping is a skill.

And sometimes staying strong means doing things you haven’t done in a while.

Nice jumps, ladies! 👏

Remember PEMDAS from school?
“Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally” 😂
➡️ parentheses, exponents, multiply, divide, add, subtract

You had to do what was in the parentheses FIRST before moving on to the next step.

Dr. Logan shared that a lot of times, the body works the same way. Movement patterns, nervous system regulation, breathing mechanics, stability… those are often the “parentheses” that need to be addressed FIRST before jumping straight into heavy strength training.

Once the nervous system feels safe and the body is moving better, strength training tends to work a LOT better too.

But if you skip ahead too quickly and go straight to loading and strengthening, the body will often just compensate harder instead of actually improving.

The right ORDER matters!🙌

Most people are surprised by how personal small group training can still feel.

The trainers know your injuries.
They know your limitations.
They know when to push and when to back off.
And over time, the people around you start rooting for you too!

That support system makes a bigger difference than most people realize.
