Have not been on Contessa for several weeks now so why not put Sara on her. They both behaved well 🤣.

Competitive Trail Riding (CTR) is slipping away, and why it shouldn’t---A discussion.

Of all the horse sports, the one MOST aimed at correct conditioning and good horsemanship practices is competitive trail riding.

Not to be confused with endurance, another distance sport, a CTR is judged on the condition of the horse.

Before the ride each horse is carefully checked over by a team, and any deterioration from the original condition during the ride will result in lost points, A horse starts with a score of 100, and the winners will be the horses with the fewest deducted points.

All of this makes the rider acutely aware of keeping the horse sound and unstressed, and once a rider absorbs that mindset, it will carry over for a lifetime into any other horse sport.

The preservation of this sport is good for horses, because it creates riders who are careful with horses.

This photo of two Morgan mares, HD Waverly and Catch A Cloud at a GMHA CTR was from 2024.

I used a plastic bag to help desensitize Contessa. Rubbing it on her body all over turned into Bella and Sheldon showing off with it.

Last field this week to mow. My bush hog on the tractor stopped working so it takes more time to do it with the zero turn, however my back doesn’t get as sore on the zero turn.
If it were straight up grass I’d let it grow but mowing helps keep the weeds down. The grass is banging this year so even though it’s been a lot of mowing, I won’t complain because it saves on hay.
