🕊️ Answering Hard Questions: A Biblical Case for Supporting Israel in a Time of War

In the middle of war, a pastor in Jerusalem gathers his young adults group for a feast—filet mignon in a bomb shelter. Why? "Because joy is an act of defiance."

This is the final post in the Informed Intercession series, and it's the most urgent yet. With Israel and Iran locked in open warfare, Hezbollah firing hundreds of missiles into Israeli cities, and the US deploying 50,000+ troops to the region, the stakes have never been higher.

But this isn't just about geopolitics. It's about how Christians respond when the world is on fire.

In this post, I answer the hardest questions:
🔹 Isn't supporting Israel just politics?
🔹 What about Palestinian suffering?
🔹 Doesn't Jesus teach us to be peacemakers?

When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Ania's family answered 4 a.m. phone calls from the border. Around 50 refugees at a time filled every space. They helped secure documents for aliyah, organized buses to safety, and coordinated rescues.
Last summer, they hosted a camp to reunite families separated by war for 2-3 years.
This is why I coach international representatives—they know HOW to minister. They need training on HOW to fund it sustainably.

Update on Nancy and Prayer Request for the Family:
Many of you have been faithfully praying for my brother, Gary, and his wife, Nancy, over the past several weeks, and I want to thank you for your support and love. I wanted to provide a full update for those who may not have heard the whole story or are just now learning what’s happened.
At the beginning of January, Nancy’s health took a sudden turn for the worse. After struggling with her breathing for a couple of weeks, she saw a doctor who initially thought it might be a common illness and prescribed antibiotics and cough medicine. Unfortunately, her condition continued to worsen.
On January 6th, during a pain management appointment, her oxygen levels were dangerously low, and she was rushed to the ER. Tests showed that the nodules in her lungs had grown rapidly and massively, severely limiting her ability to breathe. The doctors told us there was nothing more they could do and that things were progressing very quickly. She was placed on oxygen, and the family began preparing for whatever might come next.
Over the following days, Nancy’s condition deteriorated. She reached a point where she could no longer eat, drink, or speak, and she was unresponsive to visitors. The hospice nurse informed Gary that she likely had only a short time left with us.
This morning, January 18th, between 8 and 9 am CST, Nancy passed away peacefully. Gary is currently arranging the funeral, and we expect services to be held this coming Friday or Saturday.
We are deeply grateful for all your prayers and support. Please continue to lift up Gary, their children, and all of our family as we grieve Nancy’s loss and walk through the days ahead. Pray for comfort, peace, and God’s sustaining strength for each of us.

I want to share a heavy update and ask for your prayers for my brother Gary’s wife, Nancy. Nancy’s health has declined very rapidly. She is now unable to eat or drink, cannot speak, and does not recognize anyone. The hospice nurse has told Gary that she may only have 24 to 72 hours left, though she could possibly last up to a week.
Please pray for Nancy’s comfort and peace in these final days. Pray also for Gary, their children, and all of our family to have strength, comfort, and the tangible presence of God as we walk through this very difficult time. Thank you deeply for lifting them up.
