The Dueling Javelinas {Bridge Construction Division} worked on Trail 100 eastbound from North Mountain Viditor Center. We have reinforced a waterlogged section of the trail near the tennis courts of the resort on the south side of the trail by anchoring stones into the tread surface. More chlorine scented water has flowed across this section of Trail 100 since we first repaired the trail than has moved through a certain narrow sea passage in the Middle East!
The Palo Verde trees love the extra water and constantly try to block the trail with fast growth. Last time I trimmed trees back here I removed 15 and 20 foot long growths.
The crew also improved the trail surface uphill and eastbound from the water crossing, moving up to the ridge.

Trail Heroes Trail Crew worked one more Saturday on Quartz Ridge Trail. Surprise, Surprise! The 32nd St trailhead parking lot was closed!

The Dueling Javelinas made a road trip to a trail next to a beaver pond in the Rockies this morning. I’m kidding! I’m up here on vacation. The Dueling Javelinas Trail Crew worked on Trail 101 near North Mountain Visitor Center. Anchored stones, improved surfaces, trimmed trees. Did Not drain beaver ponds! This morning the cool Dueling Javelinas Trail Crew hiked north on Sidewinder from the Apache Wash trailhead to greet the rising sun. And improve the trail, of course!
The Fantastic Folk cleared drains, worked the back slope, removed loose rocks and cleared away litter.
So much litter that a comfortable pillow was formed “suitable for any sleeping position.” That’s what the trash bag said. Honest!
The only sad sight was the view of the latest housing development going into the desert south and east of the Preserve entrance. Boo! Hiss!!

Phoenix Park Stewards Trail Heroes had a fun day in the shade on the Quartz Ridge switchbacks. We started from the 32nd Street & Lincoln Trailhead and hiked about a mile.
Some people's kids just don't know how to stay on the designated Trail! So we mitigated it.

No, hold on….
The crew was at Apache Wash and still worked on part of the Sidewinder Trail, but these pics will not be on a travel magazine. Just the usual scene as our friends improve the trails.
