Ran is world-renowned as a 10 Dan black belt under the legendary Dennis Hanover. He has over 40 years experience as a martial artist, and his accolades range from a 1st place finish at Open World Pro Karate Grand Prix in Japan to being a 12-time Israeli national champion in DSJJ. He brings his extensive competitive and instructional experience to Krav Maga Rochester for a seminar that is not be missed!

I just received an email today from someone who went through my Krav 101 course. He told me that thanks to what I taught about de-escalation, he was able to defuse a situation that was about to turn violent.

He wrote, “While out on a run, I had a brief but potentially volatile interaction with someone who was startled and about to escalate physically. He grabbed my arm and began to c**k his other arm as I passed him on the sidewalk”.

He went on, “Without thinking, I found myself using the exact de-escalation body language and posture you covered early in the class — open hands, calm tone, non-threatening stance. It worked. The situation defused quickly. He later told me he was ‘this close’ (showing the skull punch rings on his knuckles) to knocking me out.”

I can’t tell you how happy I am that he Krav Maga’ed his way out of that! He recognized that he was on the bottom level on what’s known as the Use of Force Spectrum. It goes all the way from de-escalation to lethal force, and I teach proper use as the threat dictates. He remained calm, assessed the situation, and did what was called for. I want to teach you the same thing!
