“I have trained with Resilient Human Performance (RHP) on and off since 2017. After helping me work through my hernia repair in 2021 I became stronger than I ever have been before. Thinking that I could go off on my own I started training by myself and ended up blowing my back out deadlifting.

The symptoms were severe enough that I was considering surgery, but instead I decided to make the commute from Portland to Salem weekly because I don’t trust anyone else.

We focused on rest, recovery, corrective exercises, and low-impact activities for six months before I returned to lifting.
That was over a year ago and today I am back to running half marathons and deadlifting.

RHP's programming is unique because it is based around your individual needs as determined by postural testing.
As a physical therapist, I unfortunately see many cookie-cutter approaches to training in an effort to maximize profits. RHP's semi-private training model allows them to offer the highest quality training at an affordable price.

What separates the best from everyone else?

Goals.

Think about Olympic athletes. They spend years preparing for a single event. Every workout, practice, meal, and recovery session has a purpose because they know exactly what they're working toward.

Talent helps, but talent alone doesn't get them there.

A clearly defined goal does.

The same principle applies to all of us.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, build strength, improve your health, keep up with your kids, or simply feel better every day, having a goal gives you direction when motivation fades.

Here's a simple formula for success:

Decide what you want
Write it down
Set a deadline
Do something every day that moves you closer to it

Progress comes from consistently taking small steps towards your goal, not giant bursts of motivation.

So ask yourself, What's one goal you're currently working toward?

Optimism is the ability to view situations and events in a positive light, even when things are not perfect.

Think about what it is like to be around someone that is always talking about the cold weather, the rain, or the bad experience they had at a restaurant. This pessimistic attitude is a drain on everyone around them.

At RHP, we are always looking for ways to improve health, and this is one of the simplest things you can start working on today:

Strive for optimism in your life. View the glass as half full instead of half empty.

Fill your life and the people around you with optimism.

Research has shown the relationships between mindset and health. Optimism has been linked to lower risks of conditions like heart disease, stroke, depression and even some forms of cancer.

That may not seem like a huge factor on its own, but when you combine optimism with good nutrition, exercise, sleep, and healthy habits, it all adds up.

And honestly, I've never heard anyone say, “I hate hanging around with Uno, he is always focusing on the positive things in life.”

Being optimistic can help to keep you healthy and when you demonstrate optimism, others around you will follow. Optimism can be contagious.

There will always be negative events in life, but one of the greatest freedoms is choosing how we respond to them.
