🎥🇱🇹 Film of the Day: Tasty (Lithuania, 2024, directed by Eglė Vertelytė) 🇱🇹🎥

The first Lithuanian culinary comedy “TASTY” is a hilarious story about two friends’ adventure in a high-end food production TV reality show. Enthusiastic village girl Saulė (A. Ravdo) and modest single mother Ona (E. Ozarinskaitė) are passionate cooks trapped in the Kaunas canteen “Tasty”. One day, without Ona’s consent, Saulė involves them in a culinary reality show, the main prize of which is their own restaurant. Saulė lies to the jury about her origins and claims that they are both qualified chefs from the restaurant ,La TASTY‘.

Although the TASTY team is initially seen as a joke, their simple but brilliant recipes help them to become the viewers’ favourites. Despite their success, tensions between the friends begin to rise as Ona receives more and more attention from the audience and from judge Emanuel (L. Pobedonoscevas). The celebrity chef of the competition, Bruknė (L. Rastokaitė), seizes the opportunity and tries to drive them further apart. Will the friendship between Ona and Saulė stand the test?

✨ We are excited to welcome the film’s director Eglė Vertelytė to participate in our “Meet the Baltic Filmmakers” panel discussion on 2/27 at 4:30pm, as well as answer your questions following the screening of Tasty on 3/1 at 10:00am .✨

☕🍩 Ticket holders are warmly invited to join us for some coffee and pastries in a true Tasty style before the film’s screening at 9:30am!

On February 16, Lithuania celebrates freedom in every note, brushstroke, and stage. 💛💚❤️

💛💚❤️State Restoration Day💛💚❤️
Lithuania celebrates State Restoration Day — one of the most important national holidays in the country. On February 16, 1918, the Act of Independence of Lithuania was signed, officially restoring the independent Lithuanian state after more than a century of foreign rule.

This day is about freedom, unity, and national pride. From the iconic tricolour flying across cities to public concerts, ceremonies, and community events, Lithuania comes alive in celebration of its identity and heritage. 🇱🇹✨

In Vilnius and across the country, people gather to honor the courage and vision of the signatories who dreamed of a free nation — and to reflect on the value of independence today.

An inspiring reminder of how arts, tradition, and cultural exchange strengthen Lithuania’s international connections.

Aurorelijus Zykas, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Japan, recently shared photographs of his 19-year-old daughter dressed in a traditional furisode kimono to celebrate Coming of Age Day. The images, posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on January 12, quickly captured the public's attention, amassing over 110,000 likes in a single day. The Ambassador, who is also an author and frequent promoter of Lithuanian-Japanese relations, expressed his pride as his eldest daughter prepares to turn 20, marking her transition into adulthood. J

apanese social media users flooded the post with praise, commenting on how remarkably well the traditional attire suited her and noting the elegance of the ensemble. This viral moment highlights the deep cultural appreciation and strong diplomatic friendship between Lithuania and Japan. As the daughter enters adulthood, the positive reception reflects the ongoing success of the Zykas family's efforts to engage with the Japanese public through cultural exchange.
