KSBO Newsletter 2026 2nd edition detailing the results of the Lakeside Industries Under Division Singles and Longhouse Market & Deli Open Singles held at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles, WA. On October 10th, 2026.

WELCOME to the 53rd Season of the KSBO!!
The 53rd Season of KSBO is Proudly brought to you by our Season Title Sponsors Lakeside Industries and 900 Global® as the Official Bowling Ball Sponsor of KSBO. For Lakeside Industries, this is their 9th year as our Title Sponsor. We want to thank Brett McGuire, Lakeside Industries – Olympic Peninsula Regional Manager for his steadfast support of our organization throughout the years. It is the 5th year we have teamed up with 900 Global as KSBO’s “Official Bowling Ball Sponsor” and the 9th year with 900 Global parent Company, Storm Products Inc. We are honored to be affiliated with these two outstanding businesses.

RESULTS OF THE LAKESIDE INDUSTRIES UNDER SINGLES AND LONGHOUE MARKET & DELI OPEN SINGLES HELD AT LAUREL LANES IN PORT ANGELES.
This is the 21st time in 20 years that Lakeside Industries has sponsored an Under Division KSBO Tournament. Once again, we thank Lakeside for their many years of supporting KSBO. For the Longhouse Market & Deli, this is their 14th year sponsoring a KSBO Event. Our many thanks to Mr. Jerry Allen for his continued support of our organization.

We had a GREAT turnout for the first tournament of the year at Laurel Lanes. As a matter of fact, it was the largest turnout of bowlers at Laurel Lanes in many years with a total of 58 bowlers making the trip (31 Under and 27 Open) to roll on the 2023 PBA Jr. Tackett oil pattern.

After 5 games of qualifying in the Under Division, Kamalu Lyons was the leader. He shot games of 191, 225, 179, 211, and 207 for a 1013 qualifying score. With 31 bowlers in the Open Division, we cut to the top 10 for the Semifinals. Low to make the cut and cash was 935. Additionally, thanks to Mr. Jerry Allen, in addition to his sponsorship of this tournament through the Longhouse Market & Deli, he is also our Seven Cedars Casino sponsor, and he has graciously donated a $100.00 gift card good at Seven Cedars Casino to our first out of the cash bowler in the Under Division. And in the Under Division, that bowler was Bud Clark. Congratulation Bud.

After 3 games of matchplay semifinals, we had a new leader in Carl Nichols. He shot games of 279, 269, and 213 for an outstanding 3-game set of 761 winning all three of his matchplay matches for an additional 90 bonus pins. This added to his qualifying score of 944 vaulted him from 8th place after qualifying to the Under Division Tournament Leader with a total pin fall of 1795. Behind him were Kamalu Lyons 1738(30), Val Runge 1637(60), Skilur Lammi 1633(60), Becky Gratzer 1622(60), Mark Franklin 1610(60), our lone Junior Bowler – Malakai Bachteler 1568(30), Frank Showalter 1557(0), Dane Terpone 1471(30), and Kayla Thomas 1415(30) with the top 5 advancing to the TV Matchplay finals.

In the first match of the TV Matchplay Finals, Becky Gratzer defeated Skilur Lammi 269/160. In the second match, Becky defeated Val Runge 212/180. But in the third match, Becky’s luck ran out in a back-and-forth match that took the tenth frame to decide the match when she was defeated by Kamalu Lyons 226/213 to advance to the Championship Match against tournament leader, Carl Nichols. In the Championship Match, Kamalu, who was the leader after qualifying, was able to take control early and defeated Carl Nichols 217/152 to earn his first Under Division Title. Congratulations Kamalu, well done.

After 5 games of qualifying in the Open Division, Mac Kaurin was the leader. He shot games of 226, 205, 217, an outstanding 299, and 217 for an 1164 qualifying score. With 27 bowlers in the Open Division, we cut to the top 10 for the Semifinals. Low to make the cut and cash was 1064. Additionally, Additionally, thanks to Mr. Jerry Allen, in addition to his sponsorship of this tournament through the Longhouse Market & Deli, he is also our Seven Cedars Casino sponsor, and he has graciously donated a $100.00 gift card good at Seven Cedars Casino to our first out of the cash bowler in the Open Division. And in the Open Division, that bowler was Ryan Taylor. Congratulations Ryan.

After 3 games of matchplay semifinals, we had a new leader in Ryan Showalter. He shot games of 187, 225, and 250 for a 3-game set of 662 winning all three of his matchplay matches for an additional 90 bonus pins. This added to his qualifying score of 1126 took him from 3rd qualifier to Open Division Tournament Leader with a total pin fall of 1878. Behind him were Mac Kaurin 1874(60), Austin Gratzer 1835(60), Casey Jamrog (who came from 10th place after qualifying) 1791(60), Dean Richards 1790(30), Jacob Miller 1788(30), AJ Brockett 1730(60), Ryan Jamrog 1617(0), Nick Bachteler 1705(30), and Clay Townsend 1639(30) with the top 5 advancing to the TV Matchplay finals.

In the first match of the TV Matchplay Finals, Casey Jamrog defeated Dean Richards 219/205. Casey then went on to climb the ladder defeating Austin Gratzer 224/216 and Mac Kaurin 249/232 to advance to the Championship Match against the Open Division Tournament leader, Ryan Showalter. In the Championship Match, it was a battle for who was going to get that lucky strike in the critical frames. When we got to the 10th frame, Casey was up first, needing to strike out to force Ryan’s hand. Unfortunately for Casey, unfriendly carry cost him the game as Ryan was able to step up in the tenth to secure the win defeating Casy 214/188 to earn the Championship Title. For Ryan, this is title number 4. Congratulations Ryan, well done.

Once again, we would like to thank owner Vern Elkhart and the Staff of Laurel Lanes for hosting KSBO. Vern has been a huge part of the KSBO Family since 1977 and we always enjoy our time in “his house”. We also want to thank Longhouse Market & Deli and Lakeside Industries for sponsoring this event.

We also want to thank our 52nd season Title sponsors, LAKESIDE INDUSTRIES and 900 GLOBAL, the official bowling Ball Sponsor of KSBO ( ). Be sure to check out 900 Global’s newest release (hitting pro shops in May 2026) - the Origin EX, the next chapter in the Origin series, built to conquer high-friction lanes with smooth control. Powered by the same revolutionary Ellipse A.I. Core, this ball pairs dual-procession core technology with a brand-new solid coverstock. The result is one of 900 Global’s cleanest covers yet, engineered to clear the fronts with ease and deliver a smooth, predictable backend motion. And with its asymmetrical core, you’ll still get the punch off the breakpoint—without the sharp, unpredictable moves.

Our next tournament is the 23rd George Shafer Memorial Tournament at All Star Lanes & Casino. The Under Disivion is sponsored by All Star Lanes & Casino. The Open Division is Sponsored by A&C Tavern. After that, we head to Hi Joy Bowl in Port Orchard for the 20th KSBO Quad Swiss sponsored by Party Foul Productions – Leo Funari Jr, Hi Joy Bowl – Jim Monahan and the Myers Family, and A to Z Plumbing. 1-DAY, 8-GAMES. CAP IS 800 and you can have ONE Non-KSBO Eligible bowler on the team. We will be bowling on the 2025 PBA LBC National Championships Oil Pattern.

Entry Forms for the Quad Swiss are out at All Star and Hi Joy. You can also download them from our website (ksbo.net) or print them from Facebook. And it is never too late to mention the 43rd KSBO Toys-4-Tots Doubles coming on December 5th, where we are asking you to bring new, unwrapped toys to donate to the Toy-4-Tots, non-perishable food to donate to the local food banks, items and/or services for us to put on the raffle table, and cash donations all to help raise money for the Kisap and North Mason County Toys-4-Tots program.

I am thankful to all of you (Bowlers, Supporters, Bowling Proprietors, and Sponsors) who make KSBO possible!

OUR NEXT TOURNAMENT: 23rd GEORGE SHAFER MEMORIAL,
All Star Lanes & Casino
SPONSORS: ALL STAR LANES & CASINO / A&C TAVERN
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24th, 2026

Attention KSBO Bowlers,

We have an important rule update regarding Grand Finals eligibility for our youth bowlers. It has come to our attention that under our current eligibility requirements, youth bowlers were unable to qualify due to Hi-Joy Bowl hosting only one singles tournament this season.

To ensure our youth competitors have a fair path to qualify, the board has approved the following update effective for Youth Bowlers only:

To be eligible, a youth bowler must participate in at least two tournaments at All-Star Lanes, two tournaments at Laurel Lanes, and at least one tournament at Hi-Joy Bowl prior to the Grand Finals.

All other Grand Finals rules remain unchanged.

Please reach out if you have additional questions or concerns.

Thank you,
Ashlyn Walters
KSBO President
