Our Premier League sides head to Waverley for big games this Saturday, with the men playing at 1.45pm and the women at 3.45pm.
Congratulations to Jessica Brennan, who is bringing up her 250th Women's Premier League game, becoming just the third woman in Altona Hockey Club history to reach the milestone alongside current teammates Bronte Kerley and Danielle Tyrrell.
Jess made her Premier League debut in Round 4, 2011 against Camberwell as a talented 15-year-old, and over the past 15 years has established herself as a pivotal player in our WPL team, demonstrated by her current position as WPL co-captain and all-time leading goalscorer.
Jess is a dynamic and aggressive presence in the forward line and an accomplished drag-flicker, consistently placing her as one of the top strikers across the competition. Beyond AHC, Jess has extensive representative honours with Victoria in both outdoor and indoor hockey throughout her junior years into senior levels, which has extended to her selection in the current 2026 Australian Open Women's Indoor Squad.
This weekend also sees Cameron Cooke playing his 50th Premier League game for Altona following his move from the Northern Territory and debut in 2023, in which time he's had a big impact on the group while also continuing to play representative hockey for the NT.
Congratulations Jess and Cookie, and good luck for the games this weekend!

During Term 2 we had our U8's and U10's playing at Altona each week for the first time since the new format and it was a lot of fun and a great success!
All of the kids (and more just starting hockey) are back in action this weekend at Werribee HC for the Term 3 competition.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made it such a great program throughout the term, it takes a lot of effort from coaches, team managers, volunteers on the BBQ, in the canteen, organising the pitch, umpiring, umpire coaching, umpire rostering and more - we also wanted to take this opportunity to give a particular shout out to Martha Simons (pictured) who was the venue manager each week and went above and beyond in the role to ensure it went smoothly.
Good luck to all of the kids back on the pitch this weekend!

A huge congratulations to Connar Otterbach and Cooper Burns (reserve) who have been selected in Australia's squad for the World Cup.
In international hockey, the World Cup is level with the Olympics as the absolute pinnacle of the sport for all countries.
Connar has once again shown his resilience, returning from injury to full fitness just in time for the training block leading into the tournament and has earned his way back into the team.
For Cooper it will no doubt be bittersweet as he was pushing hard to be in the travelling squad following a strong showing at the Pro-League. The Kookaburras striker line is stacked with talent, and it is a great achievement to be named reserve with the potential for opportunity to come if there are any injuries in the build-up.
Good luck to both Connar and Cooper for the preparation and continue doing us proud on the international stage.

The Junior State Championships are on at the moment, with the U12s competition wrapping up last night and the U14s and U16s currently underway with a lot of representation from Altona across playing, coaching and umpiring.
Congratulations to the Wildcats U12 Boys team who took out the Gold Medal! Ozzie Hogan and Alex Cooper were both part of that side (pictured).
The U12 Girls Div 2 side (also pictured) took out the bronze featuring Natalia Wieczkiewicz and Charlotte Irving.
Max Brennan was also in action for the Wildcats Boys Div 2 team, with Eleanor Mortimer, Annika Larsen and Noori Willoughby all in action for the Wildcats Girls Div 1 side, both finishing in 5th place.
Well done to all involved and good luck to those involved in the U14s and U16s over the weekend!
