Club stalwart Alistair Taylor has just taken on a new Cricket Tasmania role, as Fielding and Wicketkeeping Coach in the male and female elite programs. Congratulations Alistair!

Sadly, this means he won't be around at the much this season - contributing in his usual many ways around the club - although we hope he might still pull on the red and green a couple of times on game days.🤞

Significant Announcement

At our recent AGM, Jason Blundell was nominated for Life Membership of the Launceston Cricket Club.

Jason has been associated with the club since starting out in the Under 16s in the 1998/99 season. Along with representing the club as a player and junior coach, he also provided extensive service away from the playing field. His commitment to the club has extended well beyond participation as a player and has included substantial administrative, historical and organisational contributions.

Jason has played over 150 matches for the Lions, played in 3 premierships, scored over 1,600 runs, taken 57 wickets and 45 catches.

Jason has served the club as Secretary on two separate occasions, providing critical leadership and administrative support to ensure the effective operation of the Launceston Cricket Club. In addition to his formal committee service, he has consistently contributed in numerous ways over many years, often without formal recognition.

One of Jason's most significant contributions has been his commitment to preserving and promoting the history of the Launceston Cricket Club. He played a major role in the development of the club's historical DVD project in 2004 and has more recently been instrumental in cataloguing and documenting the Club's history, including the coordination of interviews and historical records. Through this work, Jason has helped preserve the stories, achievements and legacy of generations of club members for future participants to appreciate and enjoy.

Jason's dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to the Launceston Cricket Club have made a lasting and meaningful impact. In recognition of his many years of service and contribution, we are delighted to welcome Jason Blundell as a Life Member of the Launceston Cricket Club.

Under 12 and Under 14 Girls: 1:00-2:00pm
Under 12 and Under 14 Boys: 2:00-3:00pm

Our girls session is particularly exciting, as we are hoping to establish one or possible two brand new teams! The boys session is a great opportunity for new players who may not have played organised cricket before.

No previous cricket is experience is needed- just come along, have some fun and give it a go!

Significant Announcement

At our recent AGM, Michael Bennett was nominated for Life Membership of the Launceston Cricket Club.

Michael has been associated with the Lions for several decades as a player and volunteer, demonstrating unwavering commitment, loyalty and dedication throughout his involvement. Over this extended period, he has been a valued contributor to the Club's playing ranks, culminating in captaining a 4th Grade Premiership, and an important part of its culture and success.

Michael has played over 150 matches for the club, played in 7 premierships, scored over 1,800 runs, took 161 catches, made 41 stumpings and took one wicket!
While Michael's early involvement was primarily as a player, in more recent years he has significantly expanded his contribution through extensive service to the Launceston Cricket Club beyond his playing role. He has consistently volunteered his time and energy to support club operations and activities, undertaking a wide range of tasks and responsibilities that have strengthened the Lions and assisted its ongoing development, including serving on the club’s committee and assisting with catering for national championships, serving in the bar on match days, and cooking the odd basket of chips in the canteen!

Michael's willingness to contribute wherever required, combined with his long-standing commitment to the club, exemplifies the qualities recognised through the awarding of Life Membership. His contribution has been substantial, sustained and made in the best interests of the Launceston Cricket Club and its members.

In recognition of his many years of dedicated service and contribution, we are delighted to welcome Michael Bennett as a Life Member of the Launceston Cricket Club.

Michael joins his mother, Cynthia, and brother, Richard, as Life Members.
