More hours on court aren't automatically the answer.

Tennis practice is essential for developing tennis skills.

But young players also need opportunities to develop their physical abilities.

Depending on their age and stage of development, that can include:

Movement

Strength

Speed

Coordination

Power

The goal isn't to replace tennis practice.

It's to build the athlete alongside the tennis player.

Sometimes the hardest part of tennis isn’t the physical side of the game.

It’s the people around you.

The ones who make you feel comfortable staying where you are.
The ones who tell you what you want to hear.
The ones who never challenge you to improve.

And sometimes, the people who genuinely care about you are the ones who push you to grow.

Not because they want you to become someone else but because they see what you’re capable of.

🎾 Your environment matters.

The question is:

Who around you pushes you to become a better player?

👇 Tag someone who always challenges you to improve.

Young tennis players don't just need more tennis.

They need an athletic foundation.

Three qualities I'd prioritize:

1️⃣ Movement

Can they move, stop, balance and change direction effectively?

2️⃣ Coordination

Can they organize movement efficiently?

3️⃣ Strength

Can they control their body and produce force?

These qualities create a foundation for future development.

And the goal isn't to rush children into advanced training.

It's to give them the right physical challenges for their stage of development.

🎾 Save this if you're a parent or coach developing a young tennis player.

When should young tennis players start strength training?

Is your child too young to start? Or could waiting too long mean missing an important stage of physical development?

The answer isn't just about age.

It's about building the right foundations at the right time. 💪

From balance and coordination to strength, speed and power, young players need training that supports their development not simply adult workouts made smaller.

And strength training doesn't have to mean lifting heavy weights!

In our latest blog, we break down when young players can start, what age-appropriate training looks like, and how to progress safely as they grow.

Want a harder serve? Don't only train your shoulder.

Your shoulder and arm obviously play an important role.

But powerful tennis movements involve the entire body.

Think:

Ground → Drive → Rotate → Transfer → Express

Your legs, hips, trunk and upper body all contribute to how you produce and transfer force.

That's why tennis power shouldn't be treated as simply an arm-strength problem.

If you want to develop your power for tennis, think about the whole movement, not just the final point of contact.

And if you're ready to develop your strength, speed, agility and power with a more structured tennis-specific training plan, our Tennis Speed, Agility & Power Program can help you put those qualities together.

Plyometrics aren’t just about jumping higher. 🎾

They’re about learning how to absorb force, produce force, and turn that strength into explosive movement.

For tennis players, that can mean improving your ability to:

⚡ React explosively
💪 Produce force
↔️ Change direction
🎾 Move more efficiently on court

But progression matters.

You don’t start with maximum-effort jumps. You build the foundation first, then gradually progress toward more demanding movements.

Build the base. Develop the power. Reach the peak.

👇 Which part of your tennis movement do you want to improve most — speed, power, agility, or explosiveness?

19/10/2026

Plyometrics aren't just about jumping higher.

For tennis players, it's about learning how to produce force, control your movement, and repeat those actions efficiently.

A simple progression can look like this:

1️⃣ Deceleration
Learn to stop, land and finish your movement under control.

2️⃣ Force Expression
Learn to push away from the ground and create a more dynamic first step.

3️⃣ Combine Both
Accelerate → decelerate → control the movement.

4️⃣ Repeat at Speed
Put it all together and repeat those actions at game speed.

Because tennis isn't just about getting somewhere quickly.

You also need to be able to slow down, change direction and move again.

Save this progression for your next training session.

Want to develop more power for tennis? 🎾

Power isn't simply about being strong.

Tennis requires you to produce force quickly — whether you're accelerating, hitting, jumping, or changing direction.

That's why tennis-specific power training matters.

We've created a Free Tennis Power Program to help you get started.
